We are driving and not taking Caribe Tours. An earlier thread listed the time as 7 hours but that was by Caribe Tours, which stops a lot. We will make a few pits stops and want to end up at the Oasis Canoa Hotel in La Romana. An estimate would be greatly appreciated.

POP Santiago 1:15
Santiago Santo Domingo: 1:45-2:00
Crossing Santo Domingo: 0:45-1:00
Toll booth on Las Americas to La Romana: 2:00-2:15

Say close to six hours? Perhaps less depending on traffic in Santo Domingo.

My times:

POP to Santiago --- 1hr 15 mins
Santiago to Toll Santo Domingo --- 1 hr
Toll Santo Domingo - Maximo Gomez --- 40 mins
Maximo Gomez - Charles DG --- 20 mins
CDG - San Pedro --- 40 mins
crossing San Pedro --- 10 mins
San Pedro - La Romana (entrance) --- 25 mins

Total: 4 hrs 30 mins
Also very depending on traffic in Santo Domingo.
In Peak time you can add about 30 more minutes to SDQ crossing.

Yestreday evening I did Toll booth Santo Domingo to CDG in about 30 minutes (almost no traffic)

Also, take a turn and cross San Pedro if you are travelling at non-peak time, it's shorter and faster (at non peak time) than driving around over the new bridge.

To get to Canoa hotel, it is in bayahibe so you need to add additional travel time:

crossing la Romana: 15-30 mins depending on traffic
La Romana - cruce de Bayahibe 10 to 20 minutes depending on traffic
Cruce de Bayahibe to hotel - another 15 minutes.

Additional time: 40 to 65 minutes.

Very interesting to see your recommendation to cross SPM. You mean by the ball park and UCE, coming out in front of the Free Zone? Himm.

However, one hour Santiago-Toll booths in Pedro Brand is a bit optimistic IMO, but hey, if you can do it....(And I know it can be done, but you gotta go like a bat outta Hell.)

I think I might try the SPM trick...that is a LONG way around over the new bridge.

Thanks.
