Am thinking of selling my house in Jamao. It can function almost off the grid and if I can say so myself, it is lovely. I don’t think an ex-pat will be the buyer because it takes a special person to want to buy a high end house in a hobunk town.

However- this type of living appeals to wealthy Dominicans who want to escape the city…..wealthy US Dominicans.

Do any of you know a real estate agent in either SD or Santiago who deals in high end real estate? I do not want just any sales person bringing who know who into my house to look around.

I think you know what I mean.

I will continue my work here in Jamao. My husband plays golf in Playa Dorado three times a week and is driving from Jamao - almost 2 hours each way! So we will probably buy a condo in Cabarete (IF I can sell the house!) so we are closer to Puerto Plata but not too far from Jamao. And I want to buy a condo in the US. I am now 71 years old and I want to spend more time with my children and grandchildren before I die.

I LOVE my house! The views exceptional. The air fresh. Nice mountain breezes. No traffic. Great energy in the house. People come and just want to sit down and take it all in. The real estate agent I met with today from Sosua brought her parents. I had never met them before and they asked if I mind if they just sit on my terrazzo and look!!! That is the reaction from everyone the moment they enter the front door.

So even if I cannot sell it, it is no punishment to stay here! I would just figure out a plan B.

2 hours each way to swing a golf club? That's crazy.
Either way, I hope you find a solution the two of you are comfortable with.
Post some pics.

$700K is a steal, honestly. 24 solar panels, that what I love about. Cistern, how many? stated from the listing, it says it can hold water for one month so I assume only one? That pool, I would live in there forever lol

Nice house, by the way. Good luck getting an buyer.

Cool. We have 2 plus other 2 to collect water from rain to conserve water. They aren't cheap at all.

Curious, why Playa Dorada for golf? Punta Cana has more golf courses but yet, it depends on liking, I guess.
He plays with buddies who live on the north coast. It has been a long haul for him to adapt to life here. He finally found his niche. Since he doesn’t adapt to change well (while with me, blink your eyes and I will make a change) he is better off here, I think.

For less than 700k you could have bought a house on 2 acres in Haciendas El Choco measuring almost 600m2 2 months ago. Perhaps the most economic property in a sub-division of millionaires. 700k in Jamao where you are the most expensive property is not a good idea...y'all need to re-adjust your thinking...a solar system than could feed 5 houses during the day costs less than 20k. It's not a steal, it will never sell at that price unless the seller gets luckier than someone winning the lottery...and yes that could happen. There's not even an ATM in that town, much less a decent supermarket...stop the cap and lets get real about things.

It is a very nice house and property. The OP is asking for suggestions on real estate agents, not opinions on what you think the house is worth.

Yes, the house is lovely.

I am curious as to if it will sell at that price.
I am sitting on a pot of gold if it does😀.

I wish you all the best and hope you find a buyer.

You had a farm in Maimon? I believe you got what you asked for it, that area is precious. Close to that part of the country my BIL owns huge areas of land and we want some of that when possible.
