The BEST investment is to have a vasectomy before coming to the island. Don't tell anyone and you can see who you can and cant trust.
I agree again tonight with that 100% .. than just sit and watch the chicas try and get your baby.....it's fun..... if they tell you its your's show them the doctors papers.. watch their face you beat them at their own game..

The OP needs to comply with:

1. Whatever is on the court order

Being able to see or visit the kid(s) has nothing to do with the OP complying with the court order - unless the court order has any type of clause stating visitation vs. child support payment arrangements. Rarely the case as judges do not like to get themselves involved that far.

There is not barter involved - visitation or not, if the court order stated to pay XXXX every month regardless of visitation situation, then the OP must pay up or else he will be in contempt to court.

It hurts knowing that the money perhaps is being used by everyone else but the kid(s) but, that's the way the cookie crumble for us boys.

So he has to comply with the court order but she DOES NOT have to comply........... Total BS....... Stop payment and you will get to see your kids...............................

Unless the court order specifically states to not pay unless he get to see the children, he must pay or he will be held in contempt to court.

This isn't a macho thing, its either following a court order or not - his choice?

And the OP might just end up with a visit from the Fiscal and a few PN dudes to escort him to ciudad nueva if he is in SDQ to go right into preventive jail for not following the court order.

There are laws here which do get enforced, specifically with an American involved.

You have no clue what you are talking about. This is not the US, though you may wish it is. Nothing will happen to him except he will get to see his kids......................

She will be calling him begging for the cash in one day after she finds out he stopped paying.......

What can I say - I am a law abiding citizen, blame my family for that.

Besides, if I were the OP - I will never hold on to child support payments regardless of visitations or not. No judge needs to hold my feet to the fire for me to provide for my own flesh.

Though I understand how tough it is for the OP and how easy it is for us to play Monday morning QB, at the end - there are or there is a child that needs child support payments.

Its just a moral thing and the right and decent thing to do. I take you are more macho than I am - oh well.

OP,

Do what you feel is best for you and your kids - am not sure from a legal point of view if immigration at the airports tracks (child support payments) these type of things?

Being a macho man doesn't and will not help either you nor your children.

Anyone not paying for the children, once ordered to do so will go to jail immediately. Only to be released once paid in full......And a release here could take months......sometimes years if you do not have somerone pay off these folks......The jail here for nthis is La Victoria....not a nice place by no means.....and she would end up The Winner over all.....

The moment you miss ONE payment they can place a travel restriction on you and your Passport will be taken away at the airport......Jail is what normally follows until paid in full. Also, even if you just have been late a few times, travel restrictions will be invoked......you are a prisoner of the DR and possibly in the DR jail as well............not a desirable position....

Well, as my mother used to say "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink". Good luck, I am out of here...........

To say just do not pay is not an option....not under any consideration: morally or legally........Placing funds with an attorney might be an option....making payout pending visitation.....I need to travel to make a Dollar and jail would be a death sentence here (I have no one bringing me food or water, beside all else).......

I had a teacher once who often said."Marry in haste, repent at leisure". Alphonsus C. Yumont SJ RIP

That remark is not directed at you potus but at those reading this thread who may come to the DR and fall in love with the first cutie who twinkles at them.

You sound like someone who thinks things through potus and you have wound up in this situation. You are persevering well.

The DR can be a minefield.

That is very bad advice for all the reasons other posters have stated.

So just keep paying for her drugs, liquor, and boyfriends without the kids getting any benefits and never seeing your kids. Also paying for lawyers that do nothing. That is in fact "your advice"......................

I cant believe the OP has not been able to work out an arrangement with mom or abuela , where he keeps the kids. Usually, mothers like the OP describes, dump the kids on Abuela. Now with either one he should be able to pay them a monthly stipend, keep the kids full time, and give them visitation. Even if he wins custody in court. This might be best to continue just to keep them inline. I would not want to take away thier incentive to to behave properly.
