Recommendation Requested

Hello, I'm arriving Aug 30 and will spend that night and the 31st in Puerto Plata. I figured to get a room, and then hangout at the beach for the day. On the 1st, I'm on my way to Santo Domingo.

Any recommendations for
- a beach,
- restaurant (2, one for brunch, one for dinner) and
- evening hangout spot?

I'd rather not go out of the city, as I'm only there for 1 full day.

There are some very good deals at all inclusives in Playa Dorada this time of year. Not a bad way to chill out for 2 days..

ah, I have already booked my flight. So I figured an AirBnB or hotel in the city.

No. Those are optional. I've never seen it required. Given that I live here, it would have been a show stopper.

Iberostar Costa Dorada right next to Playa Dorada is a nice AI. Worth checking out.

I stayed at Be Live Marien in Costa Dorado a few weeks ago. They are running pretty good specials right now on their website. Well under $100 per night.

That is a very flattering photo of Pueblito, in between Playa Dorada and Costa Dorada. There is a wonderful French restaurant right on the beach there. Petit Francois is the name IIRC.

I'm reluctant to share a great find sometimes....... but here goes:

Petit Francois sometimes has QUEBEC SMOKED MEAT ( como Pastrami, but better ) They buy it from a company in Bavaro run by French-Canadiens.

Hotel Palacio is a BNB located at Calle Prof Juan Bosch 14, Puerto Plata 57000.

We stayed there earlier this year. As I recall it was about $80 US. Owners are French and very nice. Property is a converted grand old house with very high ceilings. It’s not very fancy but is clean and the plumbing and AC works.

It’s a couple of blocks from the malecón and close to a couple of good restaurants. The Casita Azul is very good but pricy.

I stayed at the hotel Kelvin about a year ago or so. It was clean and very basic but with AC. I think it was around $30. Easy walk to the malecon.
