Le Vivier in Dominicus, a bit expensive, but fresh&nice langouste and 'cigale de mer',some prehistoric lobster, excellent beef, the chef is french, Chinatown near parque central in La Romana,Trigo de Oro for an excellent sandwich&coffee, also in La Romana, Saona caf? for hamburgers and local cuisine in Bayahibe, El Arponera in Boca de Yuma has the best seafood and is half the price from Bayahibe!
If you want Dominican food just get a girlfriend and let her mother cook for you, unbeatable and 'free':devious:

Thank you....i'm happy to see your recommendations and really am excited to try them out. What kind (not sure if it is obvious)of food at Chinatown - obviously chinese?

Well, China Town, I suppose that if it was chicken they would have called it 'Pollo Town':p.
Note that they also serve chicken in some strange chinese fashion, or is it 'perra', who knows nowadays, anyhow, it's very good:smoke: We have some very good Chinese friends and they loved it, need I say more:alien:
As for the others, take cash for the Vivier cause their machines aren't ready for use yet, better, take cash for all of them, DR is not known for ATM reliability...
You have also a Pizzeria just before you get to the Jumbo supermarket in La Romana, very cheap, nice wine selection and their Italian smoked ham is delicious:lick:
If you go to the public beach 'La Caleta' you're better off eating some local "pussy" imho:p:p:p

A new restaurant has opened up by Paolo (Italian) in Cocotal (where the Red Dragon used to be, by the pool and golf course) called Bacco - it is really, really excellent. He hand makes his own pasta so if you want something special like gnocci then you have to ring him in advance but he generally makes spaghetti/penne most days plus a delicious lasagna. Also has some meat dishes like scaloppini. All of these dishes are from RD$300-500 depending on what you want and they charge RD$50 to deliver it (be it one or ten dishes). I can really recommend this place - I am not sure if I am allowed to leave the number here so do PM if you need.
