The Civil Aviation Board of the Dominican Republic lifted the ban on regular flights to Haiti. Flights had been suspended after the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moise on 7 July 2021.
José E. Marte Piantini emphasized that aviation is the safest way to travel, due to the existing security controls in the airports and airlines.
After the assassination, only repatriation flights were allowed with these landing at La Isabela International Airport in northern Santo Domingo to transport Dominican nationals and foreign diplomatic personnel.
The land border and binational markets reopened last week.
