Remittances keep upward trend

Expats continue to back their families in the Dominican Republic. The Central Bank reports that remittances are up for the fourth consecutive month. Remittances in August 2020 were up 22.5% compared to August 2019. Remittances from January to August 2020 are up 7.3% compared to the previous year. Total remittances for the first eight months of the year are US$5.07 billion. This compares to US$4.72 billion in 2019.
