I went to the new VIP lounge the other day. It was actually very very nice, a lot of staff, as many free drinks as you want, table service, a nice menu. The only issue is that it took nearly an hour for my food to come (each time I asked where it was the maitre d' came with another drink so I was pretty giddy by the time it came to leave). He blamed this on the fact that everyone on my flight "had arrived at the same time" which seemed to surprise him. Given that the flight departs every day at the same time, and everyone needs to be at the airport about 2 hours before it leaves, and they even know how many passengers will have lounge access, you would think even the most stupid person would work out that you'd have x number arrive every day at that time. But just when you think you've met your most stupid person in DR, along comes someone even more stupid.

It was very pleasant though.

What did you need to enter the VIP lounge (hint: I'm not a VIP so am quite curious)!

You're going hard on the common folk tonight. Are you OK? You were giddy and didn't call me 😢

You need a business class ticket, or status which lets you into a lounge (i.e. status with an airline) or a lounge-pass with a program like Dragon Pass or similar. I was flying Iberia to Madrid in business class that's how I got in.

You can also pay for entrance. There are also arrival and departure packages available. Think of those as "meet and greet" services. American Express also has/had a lounge(s), so if you have an American Express credit card you may have access. This would depend on the card benefits you have, etc...

Or some kind of bank card that gives you lounges as a perk, Loungekey gives you access to all lounges in SD, so does PriorityPass--- unless they have opened new lounges this year.

As a general rule of thumb, the above gets you in a minimum of 3 lounges per airport.

The lounges are very expensive though if you pay. I think it's about $50 each I think and the free food you were offered depended on what lounge pass you were using but if you paid it was expensive.

Regarding VIP immigration remember that if you have Residency you can use the Dominicans Only lanes when you enter (but not when you leave, no I don't understand why either). This often means you skip a very long line at PUJ and is another reason we should all have residency (isn't it Windy).
