Renewed in Puerto Plata. There were maybe 10 people ahead of me. In and out in 45 minutes and I had to take all the tests except driving. Spoiler alert, all the employees were as nice as they could be and very helpful.

Yes you can, but why wait on a long line there when you can pay at Intrant with no line when you go for your renewal. Times are changing.............
Thanks, what´s the costs of renewal?

I went this morning at 9:20 to renew. The large lot in from in Intrant was deserted so I parked there. I walked in, information desk never asked if I had an appointment and told me to pay at the next desk with my cc. I had to pay a late fee of 1400 pesos as my license had expired last October. It took me 3 minutes to answer 28 questions on a tablet. All answers for me were "no". Did the hearing and vision test and got 100%, took my picture and got my card. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. There were only a few other people in there. Excellent service.

That's what happens when they have a fast, organized office. A while back there was a little kiosk trailer in front of a Sirena I visited, and while I sat in my car I watched around a dozen persons renew their licenses in a matter of minutes.

That's the way it should be.

Do you need to renew the licence on the day the old one expires, or, if not, how long before can you do it? I tried to find this info on the INTRANT site but couldn't.

I always renew mine 6 months before expiration, never been a problem with Intrant.
(My wife´s renewal date is just under 6 months before mine, we make 1 trip and renew both)

BanReservas gives me a little bit of a hassle but gives me the receipt.
