Just an FYI for Americans who are thinking of acquiring DR citizenship: Once
you obtain the citizenship remember that while you are living in the DR ONLY
give or show your cedula or DR passport or proof of citizenship for any and all transactions.

Under no circumstances show or give your US passports or documents to anyone
as identification or you will be screwed when Fatca comes into effect in July. Since you have
dual citizenship(that's the beauty) you are NOT required to show your US
documents as ID's while you are in the DR.

You are a Dominican citizen while in the DR and A US citizen while in the US.

Probably that won't do you any good since your DR passport will show your place of birth.

All time great ..yes you are correct ..I do not know why people do not employ a good immigration lawyer who knows the people in the department...it is so much easier, the fees are not excessive and you save a huge amount of time and frustration

That could be, but a lot of banks now around the world ask questions about U.S. Citizenship on the application to open accounts.

If they are living in the DR as DR citizens they do not have to disclose that they have US citizenship. Not required.
