You need a guarantor...RD born, car and property title in sole ownership, with a 100,000 peso bank account.

Then a bunch of forms.

I hired to do it.... she did all the translations, etc.
Whew!

Good luck

Is the 100,000 pesos supposed to be in my account or the guarantors?

First, I am not Canadian. I'm a US citizen. But I will probably pursue citizenship soon so I went to the website and downloaded the pdf with the list of things they want. Everything that has been mentioned is on the list along with some other things. I just read it. I didn't translate it, but it looks like if I haven't left the country for five years that I will not need a document from my home country to prove good conduct. Also, I probably won't need the migration thing either. I own my condo so that should take care of my solvency. Other than a brand new apostilled birth certificate, I don't see a problem. I'm wrong? Help?

You will need good conduct from home country whatever it says as they can't get interpol reports. You will also need all of the new things in the post from Moro, plus whatever else they come up with.

So.... the saga continues....
just the normal bureaucratic screw ups.

One thing the Gov't needs/wants to research is your 'migratory' record....your ins/outs of the country.
They use your passport to do that.

I have been here as a resident since 2008.... going through 3 passports.
They cannot find one of them ... nothing on the record.

My lawyer was wondering what was taking all the time (with me leaving Tuesday) so she went to ask.
Remember, the guarantor letter, etc cannot be stale... needs to be current.

My passport was the issue.......
so I dug up my last two numbers and copied ALL the pages of the new one to send them.

The promise is to deliver the certification by Monday at 9am...
Then to the Police and Ministerio de Interior for a signature and fingerprints.... all of 15 minutes
Necessitates a trip to Sto Domingo... 2 1/2 hrs for me.

The big IF is whether they'll deliver the certificado as promised.

So, I'll head out Monday AM... if no results by 10:30 or so....
I'll hang a 'U' and hightail it home.

Might need to make a return RD trip just for that....
fingers crossed

The RD tracking system seems to be lacking

This is a Citizenship application... as the title indicates

Nothing to do with Residencies

Don't worry
But I will say the process for this is less irritating and complicated than residency renewals.....IMO

I mentioned residency initially to relate to the Canadian Police report... RCMP actually

Finally deposited my file for naturalizacion yesterday. The file was about one foot high, including 4 copies. After one year of going back and forth, with new additional requirements each time, now this is finally done. I think I'll buy 3 liters of Brugal on the weekend to celebrate.

Well, it gets a bit worse....

first little snag - a new(ish) rule for the application -
letter from an employer or the bank -- easy, peasy

BUT
another new system has fallen into place with the advent of RD's computerization push....
an AMET system that seems to be more accurate -

It dug up a 2011 speeding ticket for me...
not so odd in and of itself but I had licenses issued to me in 2012 & 2016 - no issues
I had a report done in July for this application - no problems in July 2017

October 2017 - a ticket from 2011 !!
My July Good Conduct letter needed to be refreshed after being 90 days old.

Making it worse - I went to pay the fine.
NOPE, new system not accepting payments just now !!

Good news is that it's a 'real time' system -
payments made are recorded instantly and the record is clean immediately... when ever the new systems kicks in at full speed.

The 90 day rule had me renew my sponsor's letter - both bank and guaranty.

A real pain to a person doing a favor !!!

Oh well..... vamos a ver

It seems that there's always something to slow it down or to have to redo. WW - You seem to be cool with all this !! :) I was upset with the Min. I&P for many months. Man do they make you sweat it out!!! (For ex. during my third visit, I gave them my file for review, 3 seconds later she gives it back and tells me that document "x" is missing. I said, no it's in there, look it's here. They seem to be happy to give you back your file, they like to reject and make us sweat.)

Not that cool.... !!!

but I only have next week so if it doesn't fly by then , I'm on for early November.

I have a lawyer doing the heavy lifting... but it's a pain

The 90 day expiry frustrates me.
The AMET situation kills me - I was clear in July but didn't finish the job then... too late now (spilled milk)

Anyway....inching to the goal line - I hope

Ya and you're going to score a goal right there at M I&P. [emoji28] (I had a lawyer as well doing most of the fu&#% paperwork, and I also wanted to be there in person. Your "pain" will go away when it's done.) Good luck!!
