I’ve not much of a Rum guy, but have you tried “Punta Cana” rum? It’s supposed to be great. I haven’t tried it but I gave a bottle to my boss as a gift. I gotta check on him to see if he liked it.

It is very good. Much better than Brugal.

I am wondering if anyone can identify/confirm this bottle of rum as being - 7 yr old Siboneys - It was thought to be a Dominican rum that was purchased in Havana, Cuba about 20 years ago. Would this have been a special edition/one off as I have never been able locate it anywhere!

We might need this thread in these arduous times !!!

I ran across - well, was directed to a discovery

My Rum de Casa - A craft rum of sorts... is Barcelo Gran Anejo
I then 'temper' it w/ honey and vanilla

I like Lleyenda but balk at the price for a daily tipple..
As reported here, some find it to sweet for their liking

A SOLUTION.... tested only in a small group.... needing a larger sample

Barcelo Gran Anejo Dark.....
I avoided it thinking of Goslings or something (Bermuda)

No, no..... not dark/syrupy

Give it a try

I have poured it for my 'too sweet' Lleyenda people.... and they love it !!
As recently as yesterday

Feedback welcome !!!

My favorite “everyday rum” used to be Abuelo from Panama. But since trying the Barcelona Gran Anejo Dark that you mentioned above, I switched. Full bodied and smooth. The taste even comes through nicely in a Cuba Libre.

I bought a bottle on the rum yesterday. I bought Cruzan Aged Rum Origin of St. Croix Light in color and very smooth. Wanted to try some rums from the Virgin Isles. Paid about 12-13 bux

Always load my daughter up with bottles of rum when she leaves the DR for home in Austin Texas..then she has rum tastings with her friends, they have tried everything I could find and the 2 clear winners were Punta Cana and Leyenda..

Having served in the Royal Canadian Navy where rum ''tots'' were issued daily (2 1/2 oz to each sailor of 150 Proof Navy Rum)
I was not partial to rum whatsoever, Then I worked i Barbados and tried all the rum distilled there; still not overly impressed.

Then I tasted Narcelo Imperial Blend.... That I liked.
Now I buy the Barcelo Anejo .... goes down smooth and stays down.
But my noght cap is Hennesy VSOP Cognac.
At my age I do not care what it costs as long as I like it.
