If getting a firearm leaves you with a bad taste in your mouth, consider getting a stun gun. Hardly anyone in the DR has one, yet it can disable a criminal with only 1 or 2 seconds by applying the stun gun to one of his legs or buttocks or arms. I bought a stun gun in Amazon and arrived a few days ago. This is what it says it can do to criminals.

Apparently, you can seriously injure (well, some criminals could use some injury, you didn't heard that from me) or kill someone if the stun gun touches for more than a couple of seconds or touches "vital parts" of the body (head, neck, chest/stomach area, genitals -now can we say ouch-).
As with a gun, I think someone that is able to remain calm in alarming situations is more capable of using a stun gun than someone that becomes very nervous and clumsy. The latter folks could have the stun gun taken from them by the criminal(s) and worse yet, used on them and that is not the plan. I say everyone either as a driver or passenger finds themselves in "near miss" situations where an accident was barely avoided. If in those occasions you get very nervous, can't think right, etc; a stun gun could be useless. You are better without one. On the other hand, if in those occasions you remain calm and perfectly able to handle anything, maybe a stun gun is right for you.
Also, if you are the jealous type, not a good idea to have a stun gun. Its not meant to be used on your partner. If you find him (or her) cheating, just don't. You might get the urge to get the stun gun and zap his thing, not a good idea. Plus, that might be worse than getting kicked.
Anyway, it says the electric charge it gives is very powerful. Um, I'll take their words for it. No need to see if it's true. lol
