The true faces of desperation.

One needs love.
The other needs a VISA!!!!!!!!!

Guess who needs what?

There are relationships that do last but are scarce.

Thanks donP.

The first step towards self-delusion is the fetishization of the culture.

1) Latinos are family-oriented, despite the proliferation of out-of-wedlock children and an ingrained machista attitude towards extra marital affairs. Apparently this dichotomy doesn't register, and if you patiently explain it to a foreigner in a relationship with a Dominican it never will. These foreigners see the Dominican family gatherings, the trips to "el rio", the Fay Boo paginas where they take photos at some crummy all-inclusive dressed in fake Izod polo cherts and everyone sharing their beer and chicaronnes. The foreigner figures...1) This is what I've been missing all my life and...2) It must be like this with these people all the time. Both are wrong, especially if your Dominican partner is from a humble background.

2) Before a scheming, conniving Dominican, man or woman, does anything to a tourist/expat, they've done it to another Dominican a million times over. The are practiced at the art of deception, but they also read from the same playbook and the scams are easy to spot a mile away if you have any sense. Regardless of where you qo on the island, the types of scams and lies perpetrated on foreigners never changes.

3)The first thing a foreigner demands is sexual fidelity in a country "donde todo el mundo raspa". They make these demands via email and telephone, thousands of miles away from their partner, despite the fact that these types of Dominicans cheat, scam, and lie to each other with impunity. So you have the arrogance and entitlement of the foreigner locking horns with a lying Dominican. Guess who wins?

4) Internet enablers. I've read on other discussion forums the advice some people get about marrying a Dominican-"you only live once, go for it, go with your heart", etc. This is not advice one grown, mature adult would ever give to another when one of the parties is looking to turn their world upside down to marry some third world desperado, but that's exactly how it is.

All in all it's a desperate, losing battle where the odds are against the foreigner, where both parties take an active part in the deception with bitter results. The answer here is not "don't have a relationship with a Dominican"; it's "don't have a relationship with a loser". And in many cases it's not always the Dominican who fits that description, it's the foreigner.

Another great Berzin you've been nailed post. The only thing missing is your famous Personality Disorder DSM5 chart. I think that could be number 5).

Things might more difficult for a gringa to figure out than for a gringo. Even though here the gringa is always portrayed as a delusional 50 year old whale, dating a young and fit Dominican male, many times it?s actually a pretty young girl, fit, nice, with a lot going on back home. Many of them have good hearts and are not materialistic, and still these sankies treat them like dirt.

I know this volunteer from the U.S. who ended up getting engaged to a big tigre. They got married, she sponsored him into the U.S. Once he was in U.S. soil, he didn?t even wait long to act up.

There was once this volunteer who stayed with my family for a few weeks. She was really pretty, with a nice body, nice personality. Our neighbor?s relative, who was a player, started hitting on her right away. One day he approached me and asked me to "ayudarle a consegu?rsela" so he could get a visa. I was like, " no way, You're a loco viejo." The way he talked about her really disgusted me. I?m really glad she listened to us about him.

Sometimes, for these guys, it?s like these girls don?t even have a soul. They?re a thing. Sometimes these girls fall so hard, it?s just painful to watch.

are there no men in the countries these girls come from? why does Betty Sue Applepie, from Sioux Falls, who was homecoming queen at her local high school, come to the DR and hang out with Fausto who cleans the floor of the local cockfight arena.?

That is the question of the day.

Maybe that old myth "they are well-endowed?" hahahahahahahahaha

It is just that these men have 10 times more games then the ones they left back home. We all know it's BS, telenovela material, mixed with Bachata lyrics, but much better (or more fun) than John Smith who stares at you for 2 months before he dares to ask you on a date jajajaja :D:D

maybe John Smith has reservations about the size of Mr Johnson, and Fausto does not. just trying to stay on the endowment topic..

Endowment is a myth if you ask me. Confidence is the key :)

consider yourself asked; so, what is the truth?

i do think confidence is necessary. you have to have that if you are going to grapple with the likes of Serena Williams. a man could get hurt...

the size of the boat might not matter much, but having an inner tube or dinghy could be problematic...

It is a myth. Punto. lol

On top of confidence, add to the fact, that Fausto will always ready to play ;), breath of fresh air for our former Beauty Queen.

It?s all about the games....and the "muela". They hear things they had never heard back home. John Smith wants to take things slow and "see where things go". On the other hand, Mr. Latin lover just met you, an he already loves you and is 100% sure he wants to have babies with you. He doesn?t need any "space", It?s okay if you call him 10 times a day. The icing on the cake: he?s introduced you to his mom, so you must be "the one".
