President Danilo Medina led the inaugural ceremony for the missing section of the Juan Bosch or Santo Domingo ring road on Wednesday, 15 July 2020. The final stretch completes the 53.5 km Santo Domingo ring road.
Speaking at the inauguration, Public Works Minister Ramón Pepín said that the Santo Domingo bypass connects the three regions of the country – the north, southwest and the east. Pepín spoke of the significant savings in travel time and vehicle operating costs for users of the new road.
The bypass facilitates the transfer of goods by connecting the two main ports of the country, Haina and Caucedo Multimodal, the Las Americas International Airport, and the main industrial zones.
