Well as a dumb tourist I guess I'm going to get ripped off. here are the options I've been given.
1. Private VIP doctor visit me in my hotel $250 today
2. Hospital appointment in 3 days...don't know what the cost would be
3. Private clinic $240 tomorrow morning.
4 Emergency room visit which my insurance tells me they MAY cover $2,500 dollar price. I must pay upfront.

Well I guess if I know more I could find a clinic like the poster is mentioning but it seems to me I might as well have the doctor visit my room pay him the $250 and be done with this today. Let him prescribe whatever he prescribes. I don't want to wait days for the hospital and what is the difference between $240 or $250 between options 1 and 3.
This is no emergency, but I want to get it handled so I don't have this unsightly rash that is not going to heal itself.

Just so you know, I had bronchitis a few weeks ago and yes I know it's not the same thing. I hated to do it but I went to a private clinic in Boca Chica. The cost to see the doc was 1500 pesos. I had to pay another 3400 pesos to get a blood/urine test and another 5000 or so pesos for a CAT scan. Whoever is quoting you $240 USD (> 14000 pesos) is full of shit.

It's just my private opinion; Get a cortizone cream at the nearest farmacy for 240 pesos and let it be. What you think the doctor is gonna do ??? Emergency Surgery ??? Come on........... Relax.

I know, I definitely feel like I'm getting bent over. In addition, your bronchitis is a more serious issue than my stupid little rash. I mean this is what i was quoted from the clinic. I asked them peso or dollars to reconfirm. I had already read the posts here, so I mentioned the price was high, but that didn't do any good. They know I'm an out of towner. I'm going to try to keep it in perspective, if it solves the problem and is overkill I'll live without the money.

It's done, the doctor should be here in 30 minutes...it is wasteful, but I want it rectified so I can still visit with ladies. BTW Manuel, thanks if the doctor starts ordering tests and up charging me on those too, I'm going to do what you suggested. Through the decades I've a rash here and there and normally I let it play out...but I have noticed that they usually don't clear up on their own...but when I've been given a prescription, they always get cleared up.

Pharmacy told me to go to hospital a couple days ago. I go this morning and hospital sets up an appointment 3 days from now. I would like to get a lotion quicker than that to begin to diagnose and resolve the rash. Any suggestions for options today?
Thanks,
Go to Clinica Abreu. Dr. Pablo Valdez. M-F from 3 pm to 5 pm. Tell him James from San Cristobal sent you. There is a Referencias Lab for blood/urine tests next door, and the clinic is very modern.

I wish I saw this 2 hours ago. I already ordered the 'VIP' doctor....who is now 15 minutes late as I write this. If he isn't here by 3pm...I think I have a right to cancel him...and in that case I will go to this clinic you mentioned..and mention your recommendation. It is super close to where I am.

If there are bed bugs (which it really looks like it is) I would not bring any ladies to visit.

Ok an update.
Saw the private doctor, and nurse (What overkill)
He believes it is mosquitos or those little 'mimis' he called them.
He gave me 2 antibiotics and 2 bottles of caladryl and some small lotion also called triple antibiotic.
He recommended a blood test but I have refused that for now. Doesn't seem to be any need, I'm feeling as strong as a horse otherwise.
According to him everybody gets reinbursed by their insurance company back in the states...IF that is the case, then this will wind up being a good choice...
Total price $250 for the visit $25 for the antibiotics/lotions. $275 total. Very happy with the service

He said no alcohol consumption while on these antibiotics.
...anyway I hope that ends this saga.

Either way, I wasn't bringing a lady to visit...I'm more of a guy that wants to get to know someone before bringing her into my hotel room...although that night I was drugged out who knows what I might have done....the no alcohol provision is good for me on a couple levels probably.

Out of curiosity, how long did the effects of the drug last? I'm wondering what it was?

I am guessing that maybe it is for what seems to be an allergic reaction... I couldn't have been bit by this many mosquitos. He did ask me to take a blood test but I refused it....so maybe he is covering more basis with the antibiotic. I really don't know enough about the subject. Does it seem out of line that I receive the antibiotics? I will say, I brought up the antibiotic to him...I think I was only going to get the lotion/creams and I asked if that was going to be enough. I also said without the bloodwork take your best guess. Maybe these things factored into his decision.

And how was it administered? Slipped in a drink? Inhaled?

Sounds like it.
I couldn't tell how I got hit frankly. I watch my drinks pretty closely. There was a lot of hand holding, and even a little bit of light kissing. We drank a margarita out of the same glass.

JD's question How long did it last. Super intense for the 20-30 minutes I was in the bathroom. They asked me if I wanted medical assistance and I refused and shortly after their security basically escorted me out the door that even though I wasn't completely ready...it seemed to bring me some senses to me...I tried to walk lively and fast back to my hotel...I crashed on the bed...but didn't feel overtired like I would have expected. I woke up a few hours later I guess and I felt very bad but not horribly like I would have expected. I suspect I didn't get a full dose because I shouldn't have been functional otherwise. I didn't consume nearly enough alcohol to be in the state I was in...I just don't know what happened.

Not unheard-of getting antibiotics, they are prescribed at the drop of hat. Not always necessary. Drama filled trip from what you have posted. You are in Santo Domingo?

Look up burundanga. Happens to a lot of people. People do as they are instructed and empty their bank accounts, and the police can do nothing because the victim did it willingly. You need to watch what you are doing there.

I am aware of the drug...It would be completely unheard of for me to listen to somebody who told me to LEAVE MY PHONE ON THE TABLE, when I went to the bathroom....but remarkably in that moment I did. I still can't believe that part of it. I'm rather confused about how/what happened. I just am grateful that it seems I escaped before something much worse happened. I think the fact that I am on my toes a bit left me with just enough sense to create distance as I started to lose control of myself, because had I received a little more of whatever the drug was, I don't know if I would have. Maybe restaurant staff would have noticed my condition and short circuited whatever her plan may have been, but I doubt it. All this said, AT THE TIME, I felt like I was grooving with this lady better than I ever have with anyone for years...conversation was flowing. She was asking the right questions, in the right tone/manner and reacting in what appeared to be a genuine way....so it is pretty disappointing that it seems the feeling wasn't legit...
