I don't know. We have been there many times and I think it's actually Veron, but I don't know the street name.
This is exactly why Maria is wrong. There is no stop here in Bavaro for this bus line. And Expreso is the same as it has been for 13 years that I know about...............

SKY please. I was told this by the staff at both of the companies in Santo Domingo (and they are definitely two companies, two types of buses, they actively compete on the street). You haven't spoken to anyone from either company about this, but you seem convinced that I am wrong. Maybe check out the facts for yourself before telling me that I'm wrong.

APTPRA has been around since the 1970s, and they were the ones who started Expreso Bavaro in 2004 in conjunction with SITRABAPU. This is detailed on their history page here:

Expreso Punta Cana started on 9th August 2021 (according to their website). Their website says it was born out of Expreso Bavaro and the shareholders saw the need to embark on the path and set up something new. Which are weasel words for "we had a big argument and decided to set up something new". And actually what they set up is pretty much exactly the same as the other company.

So there are Two companies, so what? My point it that Expreso Punta Cana is EXACTLY the same as it has been for the 13 years I have been here. Same building in Fruisa and same employees, same schedule, same fares, etc. And if you want to go between SD and Punta Cana as someone asked you should take EXPRESO PUNTA CANA. Not APTPRA. That is what the thread is about. Period................

Wow.. Talk about being stubborn.
The thread is actually NOT only about which one you should take. The OP actually requested some information about Expreso Punta Cana insinuating that it was a new company. Then, I recently revived this thread as I also wanted to get some information and to confirm if they were the same company or as it clearly seems to be two different competing companies. So Maria's information has been very helpful.

Thank you, you beat me to saying that. SKY, stop being so argumentative all the time!

Ok I will listen to you. But one thing and it has nothing to do with companies of transit. If he takes APTPRA instead of Expreso I would like to hear how it goes. Maybe I can recommend this Company to my employees.

Sky, as someone who has taken it about 6 or 7 times, I can highly recommend APTPRA. Nice busses and their bathrooms are much cleaner on average than Caribe Tours. CT is the only comparison I can make.

This coming Friday however, I'm going to take Expreso Bavaro from Sabana Larga in SDEste. This is only because APTRA doesn't stop there, even though they have a station in the area.

If you go to the stop in Santo Domingo Maximo Gomez, you have the choice of Aptpra or the Expreso Punta Cana buses, the offices are a few doors apart, and I prefer the Aptpra buses as well. If you go to Parque Enriquillo, Aptpra has a terminal on one side with a lot of departures to Higuey, La Romana and also their Punta Cana service, and Expreso Punta Cana operates from a different office on the other side of Parque Enriquillo. Then the Aptpra makes a stop in SD Este and the Expreso Bavaro makes a stop in a different place in SD Este, and then they both go nonstop to Punta Cana airport, and after that I have no idea where they go as I have only ever taken them to the airport.

Anyone who drives along the highway from Santo Domingo to Bavaro must have noticed the silver and blue Aptpra buses there are a lot of them.

Expreso ends up in Fruisa at the terminal near the Texaco station. Right in the center of Fruisa. As for Aptpra I have no idea if they even stop in Bavaro. If the last stop is in Veron it is not at all convenient. This is one of the reasons I recommend Expreso unless you are going to PUJ, which they both stop there......................

One last question though, is it safe? (Yes I know). My wife have me doubting and instead wanting to take a taxi to Santo domingo. Because she has an aunt that lives close to Veron and she claims that there's a lot of theft. And as we arrive with a bunch of luggage (we are 4 people each with big checked in bag and then one hand luggage). So what would your opinion be? Is there a lot of theft when it comes to the "stored" luggage?

Safer than a taxi. Remember the ones forced off the road and robbed? Try forcing this bus off the road. I can only tell you that many executives from hotels in Punta Cana would rather take Expreso than a car. As far as luggage goes I have not heard of theft, but of course it can happen. I recommend to sit on the right by the window and pay attention when they open the bin. In the DR there are NO guarantees on anything............
