I just got back from Sebelén in Piantini on Lincoln. Took 2 kids, aged 12 and 9 and had a real good time. We were there for about 4 hours. I dropped around $125USD and that included food for all of us.

The games are first rate, remeniscent of Dave and Buster's, just a lesser amount. The go kart track was great. They told me they like the go karts better than the games but they really enjoyed the whole thing. The older one turns 13 in April and Lord williing we'll be back for that. We don't know the younger one's birthday so we'll have to make something up later on in the year.

Except for the pizza, the food was good too and not too terribly pricey. The customer service was great too. Another plus is they have underground valet parking so you don't have to sweat finding a place to park outside. I tipped the guy 400 pesos and have no clue if that was excessive or cheap. He didn't beat the shit out of me so I spoz it's ok.

Finally I really want to commend the Dominicanos we met and who helped us with registering the kids for the go kart. I couldn't do it and one older kid helped us do everything. His family was so super kind to all of us.

This must be the location that uses the worst advertising agency in the whole country.
I swore to good that i passed by this location at least a thousand times and i had no idea that there is anything else inside that bowling and a few offices.

I'm pretty sure I heard about it on here, DR1. I went to their website and IG page and all that stuff is highlighted big time. The only thing not highlighted was the parking. Having been to Piantini a few times, it was a very pleasant surprise.

Have been there several times with my kids. It is a great set up and very professional. Also one thing I liked is the safety of the go-carts. As they are all electric they can be controlled by the operators and they have a kill switch that automatically stops all the carts if an accident happens. The carts do go pretty fast and I think that I enjoyed it just as much or perhaps even more than the kids!

We did the bowling, it's very similar to bowling alleys anywhere else. The only thing is that the bumpers (the sticky-uppy tracks) can either be up for all players or down for all players, they are manually set. Not a biggie as we were all completely useless at bowling.

I agree the food is reasonably priced, as are the drinks, the service was on point, a nice afternoon.

There is also a new bowling alley in Sambil at the end of the food court, the women on the reception are some of the biggest b!tches in DR, absolutely horrible service, but once they kindly allow you to spend money with them, the bowling there is good. In Sambil you can also do roller-skating (in Mundo al Ruedas next to Scotiabank) and carting (in Summit trampoline park) so it's got plenty there to keep kids entertained as well as obviously the massive food court.

And next time he sees a gringo he will expect a 400 peso tip

Maria, you and I have been here too long. Our daughter and grandsons spent a week with us. She wanted to know how much I paid the maid and would I pay her extra for the week they were there. I told her. She said something like “But you could afford to pay a lot more than that, why don’t you?” I had to go into the long explanation of why not, and that I already paid way more than going rate for campo (we pay what SD family pays there because she’s really good).

it doesn't matter God will repay you and you made the guys day that's great
While I agree that the 400DOP was excessive (and more than I would have given) this is the way I look at it when I have the opportunity to help someone out here. Plus we are all free to spend our money in the way we like :)

I agree completely. When you're new to DR you see all these poor people and you're on a mission to save them. You give someone extra and very frequently they say "OK" instead of "Thank you" which always gets to me. And then nine times out of ten they come back over and over and over again scrounging, making up problems. And all of your Dominican friends tell you that you are mad having given this scrounger money in the first place. So you stop and eventually you take the "When in Rome" attitude.

I always pay over the odds, I always tip the packers 100 pesos in the Supermarket, I always give the lady begging outside the supermarket 100 pesos as well. But I have seen so many displays of ingratitude that it's worn me down. I had a lady I employed who literally lived in a shack, gradually I gave her furniture, tiles for her floor, a fridge, a cooker, and a salary that was huge in relation to her skills. And she thanked me by taking me to the Secretaria.

I remember Matilda saying to me that it was an extremely hard country for an expat to live in, most only lasted a couple of years. (Stress live in, not spend a few weeks in on vacation). These days I spend most of my time back home in my country.
