Would you actually trust a monitoring company here?

There are numerous wireless systems that are easily installed yourself.

That being said, my wifes nephew has an alarm company in nSantiago and Miami, does professional installations and speaks English. PM me if interested.

I did not know they had one lol I was more thinking on the line of buying a diy package ,couple of cams ,some motion floodlights and lots of noise.

can I find it there with no problems or should I bring it?

You will need at least two of them.

One to guard the other guard.

Not bad, cheap and reliable. Purchased on their web site - x10.com. installed myself. Have been using it for over 2 years - no complains. Depending on configuration - $100 - $ 200 with delivery to DR.
