Sell booze on the beach: you lose your license

The government is cracking down on the sale of alcoholic beverages on tours and the beaches. Most of this action comes as another two dozen persons died last month from imbibing adulterated alcohol that had been laced with methanol. The toll of deaths is way past 300 victims this year. The Tourism Ministry issued Resolution DJ-0010/2021 that states that the operator license for operating any establishment that caters to tourists will be canceled if that entity sells alcohol on the beach or on excursions around the country. These companies will not be able to renew their license, ever.

Taking the license is but a half measure. Owners of businesses that poison customers with the products they sell should be charged with the DR equivalent of Negligent Homicide. There is no legitimate excuse for procuring and selling dodgy products for consumption on a beach or anywhere else.

I still don't understand this. There is plenty of alcohol being sold on all beaches I know.

All the casitas on Sosua beach are selling alcohol. Not clear who this ban is related too.

The resolution refers to "todo establecimiento turístico que viole la prohibición del expendio de bebidas alcohólicas en excursiones y venta ambulante en las playas." So it is about selling alcohol on excursions, and about casual (on foot) sales on the beach. It's about a guy selling you some supposed mamajuana on a bus, or coming up on the beach and selling it. Not about bars.
