The Dominican Republic got lucky this year with September passing without a major storm. September is the month when hurricanes have hit this island as part of the annual Atlantic Basin Hurricane Season that runs from June to November.
While the likelihood of the country being hit by a major storm now declines, as per the historic track record, what is still upon the island is the intense heat. The legendary Latin American song, “Que Calor en la Ciudad” tells it all.
The National Weather Institute (Indomet) says that an anticyclonic system at various levels of the troposphere will continue to influence weather conditions across the country for the rest of the week. As a result, we can expect mostly sunny skies. Some scattered showers could happen, but these will be few and the hot summer weather will prevail as fall begins.
