is it something of great importance but relatively small size? i'd use UPS or fedex in this case, there is an office in POP that deals with both of those companies and they allow pickup from their location.

is it something relatively big and heavy? i'd use a shipper/mudanza that charges flat rate per box and will deliver in POP or allows pickup.

Sorry for all the shipping questions. Thanks to everyone for all the help. Just so people know, usps uses the government's postal service in DR. Most of the others in the Tri-state area here will use DHL and not tell you that. I made a lot of calls today and learned much about. Thanks again

The usps will ship to DR. You dont think that's a good idea I guess?

There is no such thing as a home address in this country! No it is not a good idea to trust the Dominican postal service. When I first arrove I sent a letter to my bank in New Orleans by the local postal system. It never got there, cost me a couple of hundred bucks!

inposdom (dominican post) is affiliated somewhat with US post. we sent few things to the states with them and they could be tracked and all. but we never used inposdom to receive packages.

also, not to sound rude but if sending a simple package causes so much grief try to think of alternatives, if possible? say, if you are sending clothing or household objects, could you just forward money?
