I will be in Santiago next week as my planned trip from February had to be rescheduled due to work. I received some recommendations at the time as to what were some of the better nightlife spots in Santiago. I will be in Santiago alone for most of the time as I will be visiting some family members of friends during the daytime. I found this list of places. Any opinions on them for a single guy in his mid thirties, white, and can speak Spanish would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Haha, no. I am just looking for opinions, if any on some of the clubs on the list. I wish I had vacation time like that coming to me, lol...

See below for my comments on a few of your spots. Keep in mind that, given the general reputation that single white guys in their thirties have in the the country, "decent" Santiaguerras can be a bit...particular. Basically, until you prove otherwise (which won't happen in a short vacation), they'll assume you are a sex tourist. That's kind of a hard rap to beat in a short period.

Fortunately, you've said you have good Spanish, which is required in Santiago. If you can't have a 5-10 minute conversation en Espanol without hitting the dictionary every two seconds, I'd consider going to one of the coastal cities instead.

Frankly, unless I had a friend with an in, I'd avoid higher-end spots like Francifol on your first trip, and go to places like Ahi Bar and "Rancho Tipico" clubs. Still nice, much more laid back, full of nice and "decent" girls who are a LOT easier to talk to, and you'll more likely have fun in general, too.

Moma - Fun spot, don't know if its' still open.
MIA
Francifol Cafe - Was popular with the younger, well-to-do set. Unless you know someone (and I assume by the existence of your post that you don't, you're wasting your time if you hope to meet a chica or two)
Tribeca
Noah
Satay
KuKara Macara - This is not a club, but a western-style restaurant. Nice views of El Monumento, but I'd take a date.
Montezuma Bar and Grill - Very, very noisy, club wanna-be but really a restaurant next door to Kukaramacara. Serves Mexican.
Montebar - It's a cool, "hang out" kind of place. Dominicans with jobs meet up there after work.
Chili's Grill & Bar Restaurant - Just like US Chili's, though happy hour can be way more lively. Next to hotel Gran Almirante.

Camus Glam Club
Vitra lounge
Shisha
Privilege
Dubai Club
H2O outdoor lounge - It was a very nice spot.
Casablanca
Pasion Nightclub - That is a bordello that sometimes has live music.
Illusion Nightclub - Another bordello, next to Passion.

Dr. Nights
Mi Casa Bar
Cibao Bowling Center
Game Studio
Bocanada Shots Bar
Metropolis Billar Cafe
Soho Rooftop Lounge

Definately Ahi Bar(both the restaurant and the club right across the street) and have you ever heard of club LeveL?(i think its near Tribeca, Pasion is ok if you like strip clubs, Do you gamble? If so you can try your hand in Matum or the casinos on the Calle del Sol next to Aloha Sol Hotel. Also Vintage i hear is good which is inside Matum around the back. What days are you gonna be in Santiago? ill be there Sunday March 25th if your there then we can hang out

The main issue for me is that I have been to Santiago many times in the past, but it has been a while. When I used to go I went out often with local Dominicans who were either friends or family of my friends. This trip I will be in Puerto Plata to enjoy the beach for a few days and then off to Santiago. I loved the city, and was there many times, approximately around the time when the Monumento had full access. I just didn't know where to go, and never really felt like I had the "sex tourist" stigma. I guess based on the company I kept, and to be honest I try to avoid that label at all costs, lol. I will be there March 30 -April 3rd.

I have heard of Level, and I have been to H20 in the past. That was 3 years ago. I was planning on stopping by Soho nightclub on the weekend as I have checked out their pages on Facebook. I am pretty laid back, and don't expect nor am I looking for nothing more than to go out and dance, have some drinks, and talk to some local women and letting things play out.

Tribeca, Camus and Privilege are no longer open. They just opened a new club where tribeca was called Veci. It is the hottest club in Santiago. Level is also a another good club. Satay and Noah are great restaurants.

francifol is not so elite that you wouldn't fit in jbars - and there's a nice place next door called barcelona that's pretty "in" right now too. i don't do the club scene, but we hit monte bar for dancing every once in a while -- stick to the "night clubs" the tipicos are filled with gold diggers.
