In a joint operation, agents from the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) and the Public Ministry confiscated a shipment of 303 ceramic bananas filled with cocaine at the Port of Manzanillo in northwestern Montecristi province. This marks a new modus operandi in international drug trafficking, says the DNCD in a press release.
During a routine inspection, authorities discovered discrepancies in a container destined for the Netherlands. Upon opening the container, they found 16 boxes containing 303 ceramic bananas, all filled with cocaine. The National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF) determined the total weight of the seized cocaine to be 32.64 kilograms.
