26-year old Dominican baseball superstar Juan Soto was said to be the last player in the New York Yankee dugout after the disastrous fifth game of the 2024 World Series that allowed the Los Angeles Dodgers to win their first Major League Baseball championship in over two decades.

Juan Soto did not make a difference in the finals for the Yankees, but he had a great year in 2024, and is now a free agent.

Many teams are courting him. The speculation around the table is that his next contract will be huge. There is talk even of US$600 million for 13 years if the bidding wars get into the act. The enormity of this sum is hard to believe.

Well the salaries are insane.
But I think you could get 3 great starting pitchers (Clayton Kershaw, Jack Flaherty, Shane Bieber) for less plus some young potential sluggers for that price. (and rob from the Dodgers)
That might help the Yankees more - I wish him well, and could be wrong, but I don't see his value that high ?

Being from NY I find it hard to believe there are people who are Mets fans. I do know one...

Not everyone lives upstate. Long Island is full of Mets fans, so is Staten Island, anyone with Brooklyn roots hates the Yankees. Just about all my family in Orange County are Mets fans.

One of Mr AE’s cousins, a retired Air Force general who lives in SD, is a Mets fanatic. He’s even flown to NY for games.
