Then the government is getting what it desires, at least with respect to them.
I don't agree that the visitors that the government wants to get rid of solely consists of the Passport Bros.
But I don't know.
I am not speaking for the government as you are.
As I have said before I am not going to argue with a citizen of the Dominican Republic that is telling me what his government wants.
If you say it then it is true.

But if that is the situation.
Game Over.
Where is the party at?

Passport Bros
I had never heard that term before. Much like I never heard of "off the chain", but I had heard of "off the hook".
Glad that both I and YouTube could expand your vocabulary.

And since you want to talk slang...how about we discuss some you might have heard of...
Tell me the meaning of punter.
And do they visit Sosua?
As in "I see a lot of punters on the streets of Sosua".

Respect is given when respect is earned.

Truth be told, the "THEY" that are not wanted are they ones that attract the "VISITORS",
Spandexed or not.

If both THEY and the VISITORS ( I just saw a video on YouTube calling the VISITORS something like PASSPORT BROS) were at home, there would be no issue at all. One can certainly learn from YouTube.

But now, we have Sosua Beach Renovations as just one reaction.
You are assuming all of THEM are what? Maybe Dominican women are not allowed to go to the beach?

I am not assuming anything about any group. The VISITORS to Sosua the government does not want are the whoremongers who provide a bad reputation to the DR, just in case that was somehow not clear. I cannot imagine how this is not crystal clear by now. I have zero idea what percentage that is of any group, let alone Passport Bros, because I don't know exactly what that term means in all of its details.

The beach at Sosua will be open for all, but each business can do what it wants with respect to entry. People seem to conflate the beach with the business.

I have no idea what punter means outside of the NFL.

It is about what is in that spandex on Sosua beach and the environs that attracts VISITORS (some call them Muppets) that the government is concerned about.

I find the entire situation to be a comedic freak show.

I have to agree with you on that one ..
The dudes in govt who were assigned to watching over this , must be shaking their Heads .. its not just an embarrassment for the Prostitution , but the TYPE of Women these Dudes are actually Paying . ( that is what the Spandex reference is about , ie 10 lbs of you know what , in a 5 Lb bag)
If you are trying to attract the Tourists , Heffers with Orange Wigs is not the Image you want for your Beach...
Honestly not even the Lincoln Tunnel area in NYC back in the 70's had such Freaks on the Stroll.
it is an absolute nonstop Freak show in them videos .

So, they can wear spandex at home and about but not on the beach?
You really like to see 300 Lb Heffers in Yoga Pants ?
seriously, you are not grasping this ? or you just playing with Windy

Many of the girls seen on the beach are walking from their homes in Los Charamicos to El Batey in town, not plying any trade on the beach. Some girls can be seen sitting in bars, but many of them are invited by men friends. I think the larger girls are favoured by the men who are making the YouTube videos, because when I go Sosua I see girls of all shapes and sizes, and wearing a variety of clothing.

Read the Comments on their videos, all your questions will be answered .. they are not just Favored, these dudes travel to Sosua specifically for these types , they even have Juicy Names for them
its a freak show , as Windy stated and Families certainly will not stand for it once they become the Majority . there is also zero discretion .

No, not really but who I am to judge. They are all over the island (in the US and Canada for that matter), not just on the beach. It's about them being free to wear what they like. What I am saying is, not all women who wear spandex on the beach or in town are prostitutes. I know quite a few Dominican women who like to go to Sosua beach who are not prostitutes.

I respectfully request that you give me (and the rest of us) some perspective into the depth of your knowledge of Sosúa Beach and the current Renovations...

When is the last time either of you have even set foot on Sosús Beach and taken a look at what is going with your own eyes?

A respectful request deserves a respectful response.

A couple of weeks ago I was there just to walk from one end to the other. Saw part of the excavation for the first plaza.

I drove past yesterday on the way to La Catalina and there were more than a dozen buses and lots of Dominicans lugging coolers to the beach.

Malibu Beach Bar has a web cam if you want live updates.

lol, gota get rid of all the spandex honeys. The massive amounts of families are getting offended lol. I think I did see one family in the last 8 months. He was a biker type with a Dominican girl and her kids, I guess that's a family.

I'm curious what people think DEMOGRAPHIC
IS going to be the new NORM on Sosua Beach , after the New Construction ? ( Bobby and Suzy from OHIO , as we used to say sarcastically )

Since some guys here are just not convinced that FAMILIES are the TARGET MARKET now , for these Investors.
What do you envision the actual Beach Goer Crowd will look like after the completion ?

Please be specific , without breaking the rules ..
I for one DO believe it will be the same type as the CRUISE SHIP crowd , PLUS some very wealthy people who can afford a Million Dollar Condo with " the View:" of Sosua Bay.. with their Teenage Kids doing Selfies . But I also agree this will not happen overnight .

The new norm on Sosua beach will be whoever wants to go there since it will be open to all.

A mixture of Dominicans, Expats that live in the DR, Snowbirds that visit the DR and even some Tourists that visit the DR.

Unlike Windeguy, I'm not sure, but it seems to me that the type of person that the government wants to see on the beach are wealthy condo owners from Santiago and hotel vacationers who can afford to stay at a luxury hotel with one of the best views in the Caribbean. It's just a guess, which may well be wrong. Whether the government will get what it hopes for remains to be seen.

Wealthy condo owners could certainly be a part of the people on Sosua Beach, especially if they build the condos behind the beach on private land that is expected to be built, but not they will not be the bulk of the people on the beach by any means.

But, where are they going to hang out? There will be a plaza at one end. It is a long walk to the center or the El Batey side. It's so nice to walk a beach, have a few places you can stop to have a drink or something to eat. Will this be possible with the new plans. I think not. I keep thinking about washrooms or lack of.

You make my point!
At least about "the government".
In the end the market will decide.

One of the best views in the Caribbean?
Maybe the best ambiance for "wealth condo owners from Santiago and hotel vacationers" who don't know any better.
There are half a dozen beaches that I think are better than Sosúa Beach here in the Dominican Republic.
And I have not even considered the rest of the Caribbean.
I have made many a trip to Sosua and never even set foot on Sosúa Beach.
I prefer to enjoy views of the beach from my table at Pirates Bay.

Sosúa or Perdernales
Quality of beach anyone?

Sosúa the new beach for the rich in the Dominican Republic!!

Very Simply put , it will be made convenient for the Well to Do Crowd, it has to be ..

and not so convenient for the People they no longer want Lingering on the Beach ..

Maybe Locked, Modern Bathrooms , which you PAY for , or know a Passcode if you have a Condo ? Im guessing its going to be modern and High tech.. not an empty gallon bucket, a garden hose, and a toilet with No Seat , and some napkins for 20 pesos .

Near the new beach development where concrete is being poured today they are pouring a slab for the new church which includes a slope right to the curb line.
How does the building get to run rebar and concrete right to the street?
And speaking of market conditions weighing in on this lovely view - There are dozens of empty apartments abandoned right on the Western side of the beach on the cliffs with unobstructed views for 270 degrees. So there's that. They went belly up.
