At the rate they're going, it'll easily be another year before they're finished.
I was going to say another couple of years. Someone said they had been actively deporting Haitans in the Sosua/Cabarete area.
Could that be the reson for complete lack of progress over many months?

Some progress since the last time I was here but I don't want to insult snails by saying "snail's pace". I did not take photos of the opposite size where they dug out the hill, which just looks abandoned now. I hope the roofs wont leak when finished

Did the people get time to remove their inventory?
Friend of mine in Charamicos sent me a message via WhatsApp a few minutes ago about this.
From what I am being told, it was a blitz play. Although one could argue the writing has clearly
been on the wall now for several months.

I would have thought they would have a REAL Excavator to use for such a Scenario.. That Backhoe is not very impressive.
or maybe they did not want to make a Bigger Scene than Necessary ? .. but its going to take at least 3 to 10 times Longer to finish the Job with that Lame piece of Equipment .

Yes it was. Many live day to day. This is their only game.

I feel sorry for them as many are going to lose their fortune.

Tearing them down just before the nowadays very short high season. Boosting turism
Foreigner who go to Sosúa in "High Season" are not aware of what is going on with the shacks.
Snow birds are looking for mild weather and peace ✌️
