Sosúa Western Union

Western Unión has moved as of May 1 and it is a nightmare now. One cashier only and you are forced to stand on the sidewalk on Dr. Rosen in the sun if there are more than 6 people inside. And there is always a line outside. I personally will drive to Western Union in Janet's in Cabarete whenever I need to.

Only one location in Sosua. Next closest is in Cabarete. The previous location had two or three cashiers. The new location only has room for one cashier.

Yes across from the Metro Tours bus depot. Seems crazy - there are better empty locations which were likely cheaper.

Apparently you cannot receive packages there. Vivempaq (Trans Express) packages are to be received in Janet's WU.

My wife said Sosua no longer has an authorized Western Union location. This one does money transfers but allegedly it's not a real Western Union location. Don't know how true , just repeating what she said

Caribe Express offers the same service as Western Union and they are everywhere in the country. Zoom and Remitly are both very popular ways to send money here.

Only ever used WU office in Sosua as a package pickup location. Doesn't seem very organized - the girl in Janet's WU was less-than helpful when asked about package pickups. And Vivempaq in Miami had no idea that there was a change here.

I thought so too, but no, it's still open, I went there about 2 weeks ago and didn't seem to have any plans on closing soon either.

Caribe Express does transfers to and from other countries? I once asked if I could send money to another country and they told me no.

That's weird, I used to get my salary sent from Canada and I picked it up at Caribe Express, and there were also people sending money to other countries.

You have to use a third party sender such as Xoom or Remitly.

The space is for rent at USD$3000 per month, does not include the restaurant name or chattels. Not sure if it's closed or still open. Terrible location
