IKEA has curtains that repel heat and sound.

I bought plexiglass from Bellon which reduces the noise from the gallo next door so my customers no longer hear it over the phone. Only down side is you can't open the windows. When they failed to deliver but claimed that they had I had to do a bit of fighty fighty but finally I got it delivered. Every encounter is wonderfully colorful.

If you're the owner, you need to change the windows for double pane soundproof windows. It's worth the cost. Then, adding to that, you need to purchase those sound blankets and have them tailored cut to fit the windows as curtains so you approach a better quality soundproof. I had it in my place, it works well. Here is the ref:

Of course, my best advice, knowing this situation very well: if you are renting, then just move. Noise is one of the biggest issue for us here in this country.

The only way I found to deal with the noise is to turn the fan up on high and it usually drowns out the noise. I can't afford all types of fancy stuff but in the bedroom I have a large pieces of leather (I have a good supply of leather) hung in front of the curtain to block out the light and I have to close the window at night. But the fan works. I put it near my bed and I can hear very little happening outside. Rain, chickens, dogs and raod noice is pretty much blocked out.

Yep. I turn on the air conditioner and my air filter. Although when there is a baseball game going on down below me with music it still sounds like I am playing it right in the bedroom…..but from what I hear it is a stretch to call it music.
