The Association of Koreans in the Dominican Republic estimates that more than 50,000 people attended the First Korean Festival in the Dominican Republic that took place Saturday, 26 November, from 3 to 11pm at the Plaza España in the Colonial City.

The festival was held to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries and to promote cultural exchange. South Korea ambassador In Ho Lee was the host of the event together with organizers from the Association of Koreans in the Dominican Republic.

Korean culture has spread to young Dominicans through Netflix and TV movies and cartoons and series and through YouTube music videos.
