For $129 you travel in the baggage compartment. Inside the plane is extra. Also a small charge for oxygen.....................

Fixed it...

By the way the news is full of that Spirit flight that got attacked by gunfire on arrival at Port Au Prince airport, sounds mighty scary.

None of the concerns about the service will matter when they go bankrupt before your trip, which is a whole lot better than them going out of business just before the return flight.

Beyond the issue in Haiti, they are in deep financial trouble.

They have furloughed hundreds of pilots and have put on hold scheduled new plane deliveries.

They are rumored to be in a last ditch effort with their creditors to do a restructuring of debt and then file a pre packaged Chapter 11 Bankruptcy. This would allow them to continue flying, but they would be a much smaller airline.

With a bankruptcy potentially looming and with no interline agreements with other airlines should passenger disruptions occur…….caveat emptor.

To update this thread, Spirit has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. This chapter allows them to continue to operate while they reduce expenses and likely routes, airports and staff.

They join a growing chorus of airlines that have filed for bankruptcy and survived or who have filed and eventually liquidated.

What will happen to them in the future is anyone’s guess, but the routes to/from the DR seem to be safe for the moment with just a likely reduction in the overall number of flights available……again…..for the moment.
