Evelin,

have you been able to contact someone at the Embassy in Santo Domingo yet? Hopefully you will get the letter soon so you know exactly what they need you to do.

The other option might be to ask your husband to contact his MP and have them email Haiti to find out what you need to do and then they can send the MP the letter and give a copy to your husband so he can give it to you.
I know it's the long way around - but maybe it may help :)

Today is Wednesday, didn't someone in another thread say that Haiti drops off the visas on a Wednesday and then they call you to pick them up on a Friday?

Hope you hear something in the next couple of days Evelin,

Thanks Eve!!!!!
Have you heard back to find out which medical test you need to take yet? I hope you find out soon so that you can get them what they need so you can get your visa too :)

Sorry I must have missed this, for future reference is there more than one kind of medical that they need?

guys i have an update but is very confusing:
the embassy called me to tell me that i can drop my passport and while she was talking to me then she realized that in the system it says that i have to repeat a test from the medical examination; she asked me if i haven't received a letter by mail, i said no. so she told me to wait for the letter a week and if i don't receive it withing that time then i will have to contact the embassy in santo Domingo to pick up that document and redo the medical.
so i dont really know if right away after doing the medical i will drop the passport or if i will have to wait just some weeks before doing it......no idea. But so far we are happy cause it seems is almost done!!!! :)

Anna,
Eve was told by the embassy that she has to repeat a test. She's just waiting for the letter to show up to tell her which test she has to repeat.

hi johana,

After i sent the fax, the embassy haven't contact me.
what we are going to do is to wait until tomorrow night to send a email to the MP as you said. Because tomorrow is when we are going to have 1 week since the officer called and told me to wait all of this time before contacting them if i don't receive anything.
what i think, is that they never sent any letter, like the officer said. but oh well, she could just tell me to pick up that in Santo Domingo this week instead of wating for a famous letter, and wasting time.

Anna, you know that when they do the medical test on it is included x-ray, blood test and urinary test, of all of them the officer said i have to repeat one, which we dont know yet :(

They normally ask to redo the whole thing if the medical has expired. Has it been over a year since you had it done? The medical is only good for a year.

If they are asking to do only part of it that is the first time anyone has written about that.

It would have been nice of her to tell you when she had you on the phone but asi es la vida.

Evelin,

maybe they sent the letter the day she called you. The email from my MP states that Haiti wrote to him. He is in Puerto Plata and has not received this letter and he knows to check for mail every day lol. I'm waiting for it to show up - I have a feeling it's going to have July 29 date on it. I know the last time they sent him a letter it took almost 2 weeks for him to get it.

redoing medical for immigration Canada,is it true?

hi, as you know i am "supposed" to repeat part of the medical examination. i was looking through the web and i found this, but i don't know if it is true.

"If you visit certain other countries between your "home nation" where the exam was completed and Canada, you MAY be required to take additional testing due to the possibility of health changes related to conditions in those countries."
Is it possible to undergo medical check-up even without the Medical Examination Instructions yet from CIC? - Yahoo! Answers

what worried me is that i have United states visitor visa i have go several times and this year i took a cruise and visited 5 islands in the Caribbean. But the the medical examination was done after all of those trips.

can someone tell me if you have heard of something like that cause in the guide doesn't say that? does this make any sense to you?
thanks,
Evelin

I looked on the CIC web site and I didn't see anything about reporting travel and retaking a medical exam. Did they ask specifically ask you to do retake the medical? Then do it. I could see if you were exposed to people in a prison with TB or you were on a cruise where there was an outbreak of some sort. Do they ask you to report all your travel?

This is from the CIC site:

Applications for permanent residence will not be accepted if that person’s health:

- is a danger to public health or safety; or
- would cause excessive demand on health or social services in Canada.

Validity
You can only use your examination results in your application for 12 months from when you had the examination. If you are not admitted to Canada as a permanent resident within this time, you will be required to undergo another examination.

Best of luck Evelin.

Evelin,
this is just speculation on my part but Canada is very careful about malaria. I'm a blood donor and if I stay in a controlled area like an AI they have no problem with that but if I'm out and about they won't take my blood within a certain amount of months after returning.

It could be that because you've been to other Islands they want more tests of your blood. Not sure if this helps while you are waiting for that letter Canadian Blood Services - Soci?t? canadienne du sang - Malaria policy

Let us know when that letter does arrive, it will be good to have that info for any similar question in the future.

Evelin,

I hope your husband is able to get you an answer through his MP.
My MP's office wrote to Haiti last Friday mid-day and got a response back Tuesday morning.

Final Time Line:

October 2006 – Application submitted

November 2006 – Approved as sponsor

May 2007 – In process (Online Status Updated)

August 2007 – Received letter requesting additional documents. Relationship proof, original copies of birth and marriage certificates, photocopy of my passport showing additional entry/exit stamps, explanation letter for my daughters late birth registration, and hospital records, and new police certificate.

December 2007 – Received letter requesting we undergo DNA testing.

April 2008 – Received a call from the embassy requesting my wife, and daughter bring in their passports. The next day they did that, the embassy told them they didn’t want their passports, but instead they gave her a letter dated March 2008, requesting they redo their medical exam, and obtain a new police certificate.

July 2008 – My wife received a call asking why she hasn’t dropped off her passport. She explained the situation back in April when she tried too, and how they wouldn’t take it. Never-the-less she went and dropped off the passports.

August 2008 – My wife and daughter both picked up their passports with their visas issued, process complete.

hi johana, sorry i couldn't respond before.
well about my case the Mp office emailed to santo Domingo and to Haiti. St Domingo responded next day( august 6 )saying that they don't have anything, cero , nada. Haiti so far has not give any response, so the person that talked with husband from the mp office said to give haiti a week to respond.
lets see if by Tuesday we have some answers to this mysterious case.
Everything looks like haiti screw up something and now they don't what to do or respond to us with clear instructions. how could that person called me to drop the passport and then seconds later saying another thing....and not being even sure if the letter was sent or not, and telling me to contact them, but............ they don't answer!!!!!
Besides all of that how could i be the only person in the all country that needs to repeat just 1 test without having a contagious disease, and without the medical expired .

oh well , lexi congratulations i hope you can be with your husband ASAP hehe.

now i will try to relax cause every time i think about haiti/immigration i feel my heart racing like craaaazyyyy
