Spotlight on who will be the next electoral judges

The National Council of the Magistracy (CNM) on Friday, 16 July 2021 continues assessing the candidates for the five judge positions and alternates to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The TSE is the higher court in charge of ruling on electoral matters regarding the three government levels – presidential, congressional and municipal. So far, 44 aspirants of 79 candidates have been interviewed by the CNM.

The assessments bring up the issues, such as the role of the TSE in the past and future elections, the complexities of the D’Hondt method to allocate votes to deputies, and automating the vote, among others.
