I was referring to Subway's UK operation......they have dropped all pork/bacon from their sandwiches to appease the Muslims

Another of those urban legends that seem to make the rounds these days on the internet.

While some franchisees have opted to not serve pork/bacon, they comprise only slightly higher than 10% of all franchisees in the UK/Ireland.

I think they have a shot since my dominican wife loved the Subways here in the US.

They have a Brand New one in Bavaro, also. At Downtown Punta Cana.

This one will survive. Its next door to Super Polla and close to where the new Jumbo is being built. Plus its very close to PC village and a ton of expats who like this food.

Considering that Subway is probably the most "healthy" fast-food chain in North America, it should go over big here, providing all the employees and managers WASH THEIR HANDS and wear the prescribed plastic gloves when preparing the sandwiches.

Healthy and Subway just does not get there for me.

While they did have a successful ad campaign with Jared losing all that weight....I still do not think of Subway as that "healthy."

When I think healthy "fast food," Panera Bread and Chipotle come to mind....but not Subway.

Both would be good additions to the fast food scene in the DR....I just don't think they would be good business decisions...as the capital costs to open either is significantly more than a Subway franchise.
