Suriname’s President is first head of state to arrive for Abinader inaugural

Suriname’s President Chandrikapersad Santokhi arrived on 13 August 2024 in the evening, the first to come for the inaugural of the second term of President Abinader (2024-2028). Abinader is set to be sworn in on 16 August 2024 during a ceremony held at the National Theater instead of at Congress to be able to accommodate more visiting delegations. Santokhi landed at 7:03pm at Las Americas International Airport. He flew in with his wife, Melissa Santokhi, Suriname’s Foreign Minister Albert R. Ramdin, and a delegation.

In addition to President Santokhi, more heads of state are expected to arrive on 14 and 15 August to participate in the inauguration.
