This article popped up in my Google News feed earlier today. Sounds serious but at the same time like quite a bit of information is missing about this incident. I would think it would have all been captured on video?

It's a great question but no comment, argument, or slur is worth bashing someone's skull in. I'm surprised they don't have video. Then again, maybe they do and for now are not releasing it.
Of course, I agree it! I've read another sensation piece regarding a canadian on the same outlet some time ago.

I asked because I don't see someone just walking and picking up a 100 pound man and dropping him on the head without some sort of words exchanged or confrontation.

27k raised on a gofundme.

I read another story about this in National Post. The suspect was previously convicted of "thug-like" assault in eastern Canada a decade ago.
A Canadian rumble in the D.R . Sounds like the last assault at an A.I and they tried to put the blame on a resort employee.

Like a union worker with tattoos wearing a tank top and Croc’s.. You forgot to mention that.

Good observation. He looked just like a drunken slob that would pick on someone half his size. Hopefully he gets some jailtime here before he returns to driving a forklift back in Canada.

lets see how tough he is in a Dominican prison with Fausto as a bunkmate. He does not look like he has the coin to buy his way out. Assaulting someone half your size is the lowest form of predatory behavior. Hopefully he loses his union card and shares a cell with frankie fixit. Loser!

Other Canadian news reports are stating that the person arrested has been released on bail. What are the odds of that being accurate?

I think that is correct. However, he is barred from leaving the country.

18 is the legal drinking age in Alberta but it seems too young to sent your child off to a resort bar in a foreign land.
Not blaming the mother but it's always best to keep an eye on youngsters new to drinking, (it was his birthday celebration) especially with countries who have had histories with contaminated alcohol

I agree,18 is too young to be drinking in a bar. I had an 18 year old kid jump out my 4th story apartment window last year all because he was drunk on his azz for the first time in his life. Broke his back etc.,lucky to be alive as he landed on the grass missing the concrete by inches. I warned his mother that he was drinking too much and she was okay with him pounding rum like it was coolaid and next thing you know it cops and ambulances and a LOT of questions being asked by the policia.

The filters were in place. There were no reports of the violence against this youth in the local medias of Punta Cana. Hope the young man recovers.

When I grew up in NY the drinking age was 18. It wasn't an issue, but MADD did make it into one and that changed it to 21.
18 year olds were dying in wars , but were not legal to drink....

The poor kid from Canada, 18 years old, had to ask his parents for permission to go out and then whatever happened did.
It is tragic.
