Lately I've caught myself writing/ typing my English accidently spelling some of the words in Spanish. Has this ever happened to any of you?

It's never happened to me. However, on several occasions while interpreting for patients, I've made some goofy mistakes:

Sometimes the person with limited English proficiency will utter a simple "thank you so much" or simply "Thank you" in English, and I'll interpret it back to the provider in Spanish. Weird. I know.
I guess I can chalk it up to being in a zone, interpreting everything that is spoken in the room.

That's the headline of an article from 2019. In the actual article, you read azúcar moreno.

I grew up hearing and using and buying azúcar prieta. Now few people will call it prieta, and others preferring (erroneously) morena.

Interesting.

Could this be just DR using azúcar prieta?

I just looked up brown sugar in Word Reference and azúcar morena is listed as ambiguos meaning the form is not determined as right or wrong.
