Let me introduce:

Don Miguel Legado

These guys are knocking it out of park and this is their low end.
These bottles punching well above their weight.
Everyone I have introduced to this brand has liked it.
I prefer the Special Blend

Jump up to this part of their line for a special treat.

It should be noted that I judge the juice that is in the bottle...not the price of the bottle. 🤑
If you like it...I love it.

My T Rex arms have never purchased anything over $100 per bottle. I have sampled many rums, champagnes, wines and steaks that were, and in my opinion they are not worth it. When my house is nicer than the makers of the $100 bottles, I will buy a few. In the meantime I am content with my 1100 peso Barcelo “la guitara”.

Don Miguel comes in at around 1100 - 1200 DOP House and Special Blend.
Barcelo Gran Añjeo was one of my goto mixers at one point after I first arrived on the island.

Then I found Barcelo Dark worked well as a mixer.

But I was still moving along the learning curve.
Haven't had a bottle of either one on my shelf for years.
But if you like it...I love it.

these rums look amazing but I'm a scotch man BALVENIE
I feel ya Bro.
But they really jack you for Scotch here in the 🇩🇴.

I am a Bourbon man.
Almost as expensive as Scotch here in the 🇩🇴.
But it should not be.
First of all..on average it is not aged as long as Scotch
🇺🇲 is a trading partner and the boat trip is short.

I only got into Rum after moving to 🇩🇴 .
Could not find much Bourbon.
The selection has increased, but I have maxed it out and have not found a new bottle in a long time.
I'll still pick up a new bottle of 🇩🇴 rum (or any rum for that matter) if it catches my eye.

My newest find is Atlántico Reserva.
But I cannot recommend it.
Nothing wrong with it.
I use it as a mixer.
There are just so many better rums out there.
I won't re-up.

Right now there are full page advertisements in several Dominican newspapers for the Bermúdez Aniversario Gran Reserva, a special rum to commemorate the 170 anniversary of the founding of J Armando Bermúdez & Co in Santiago, essentially the oldest Dominican company. The anniversary was a few days ago, though the company will be celebrating for much longer than that considering it's 170 years.

This is what the packaging looks like.

It should be noted the DR was just 8 years old as an independent country when J Armando Bermúdez was founded. It should also be noted that at the time the president of the DR was Buenaventura Báez in his 1st term (3rd president of the DR).
