No AZS access for Americans would affect you badly.

The Fr-Cdns like LT because of the French language
Plus.. 2 flights weekly in season from Toronto.. Saturdays & Wednesdays it used to be

Oddly... WestJet had no flights in November to AZS.... no clue why

I do travel to Samana for Easter week.

as to the OP
These limited POP Flights seem to be a very HOT topic right now on Facebook. esp with the European crowd ,, it seems to be really affecting them a lot .
Samana Santa?:)

Yes, the original topic of this thread really is affecting Europeans. That's why it's a shame it has been allowed to go off-topic.

Yes... sorry.

I started following this for my UK daughter...
very hard for her to visit any more.

She has decided to spend a night or so in NYC on the way here.
Home flight is a straight shot.

We have detoured from that topic

to Samana , for Semana Santa , yes .. my Spanish is limited, but i know that spelling..
lol

Yeagh, the Euros are quite upset .. and I do not blame them ..
And the Restaurants and Businesses are feeling their Pain , Im sure .

I am just guessing.. but theoretically this will just PACK Punta Cana and the Samana Peninsula even tighter for the winter months , no ?

I am also guessing there are no direct Flights to STI from Europe ? , why would there be .
but I have seen whole BUS Full of Europeans at STI , but its rare i think...Charters maybe?

Air Europa from Madrid has direct flights to STI, I think maybe a few more. STI is the capital so main national airlines may have flights from Europe capitals to STI.

STI is santiago airport, so not the capital (which is SDQ). there are many flights from europe to SD but i was not aware of any connections from europe to santiago?

my fren,
this is your first and only warning regarding your attitude. i am all for negativity and pessimism but if you have nothing of value to add to the discussion maybe it's good time to learn how to stay quiet.
so either learn how to comment in direct reference to the question asked by the OP or you will find yourself with an infraction.
i hope we have an understanding. happy festivus.

That is correct ... my sister in Law only flies into SDQ, as she will be doing this Xmas Eve , as she always does , From Spain ( not cheap lemme tell you) .. Madrid to SDQ I think.. never to STI,, only SDQ is available to her.. still 2 flights because she has to fly from her city to Madrid I believe .

You should check the flights to PUJ also. Expresso Bavaro goes direct to SD from Bavaro. There is a bus that stops at the airport also, not sure how that works but I know it ends up at Ex. Bav.

I.P.Knightly
can fly wherever he likes...
as he boards the plane ... he speaks to the pilot and slides a $20

That pilot takes him wherever he wants to go.... cash tipping works for him every time

What question was asked by the OP? I think you'll find it was a statement of fact.

She has to fly through the US but gets a direct flight back to Europe or she lives in the states William - and I understanding?
Anyway you get to have her here for the holidays. (or Holidaze if you hit the rum sauce)

Anybody have a matrix as to how the high cost of fuel here makes it less enticing for major carriers to fly here?

I'd be interested to actually know if there is any effect. I assume there has to be some effect.

In that vein....

how many flights need fuel ?

The NYC flights don't... I assume
The European ones - certainly

But look at Punta Cana.... 66% of the country's flights....
no slowdown there that I've heard of

It may not be a big problem - fuel costs

The more fuel they carry the more fuel they burn over the same distance. Someone does the math and decides if refueling in the DR makes monetary sense. I assume it probably still does. Landing while heavier than necessary is harder on the equipment. Flights from "far away" 7+ hrs probably can't carry enough and if they could, the trip down would probably cost more than just buying the fuel here.

Just arithmetic, Buster.... plain & simple

Airlines do it every flight

You shouldn't forget the 'fill time' element
No fuel fill up means faster in/out
