Ridiculous. Compared to the DR, many US cities should have a Level 2 travel advisory.
As I pointed out in the other thread, at the same time my country in EU classifies the DR with the same risk level as many countries in EU, so my take from this is that Americans are under increased risk of criminal activity in the DR while for Europeans everything continues as usual and everything is safe...

Why would each EU country have their own classification? Not much of a Union if each has to do all that work on their own. Might want to consider leaving that arrangement.

I had to laugh. A good friend of mine that lives in Miami just got the alert on his Cell about travel to the DR. So he called me right away to see if I was OK. I told him he needs the alert in Miami, I don't............................

I got a text from a friend of mine in Tampa who's planning on coming down here soon asking the same thing 😅

Hasn't D.R. been "level 2" for ages? Did Luis upset our beloved King?
The media must have realized that these types of news alerts, especially during peak vacation times, generate a lot of clicks or views. This was just a "refresh" of the same previous alert level on June 12.

I would think the main reason is that despite the union, they are still all independent and sovereign countries, albeit under the "influence" of Brussels... There are different opinions on whether or not the union is worth it... I won't got into that much more...

Less Americans?
Excellent. Maybe I'll take my first trip down to PC this summer and spend a weekend at one of their resorts.
it just wouldn't be the same without the mouth breathing beer Swillers who selected their best NASCAR t-shirt to wear for one week

We might laugh but this WILL HURT local Tourism.
The average American is as chicken as it gets !
Similar warnings to Mexico or the Bahamas in the past did cause severe damage for a long time.
Punta Cana does not depend on Americans to survive. They are just another tourist destination for PC. And one that spends a lot less than most others. Now July and August loaded with Europeans on holiday. South America, Canada, and by the way Dominicans pack these places on weekends and holidays. They won’t be missed………….And you can always count on Russians with direct flights who spend a lot more than Americans...............

The complete USA should be on the "NO GO" list IMO (since 20/01/2025)
I traveled quite a bit in Europe from the Scandinavian countries to Spain and through Germany, Austria, Amsterdam Italy, Cyprus Greece and Hungary.
With the exception of Greece & Cyprus I really enjoyed my travels. The food and atmosphere was great.
But unfortunately Europe under the EU and as a result of mass migration is failing. I would like to see Europe make a comeback but I don't see it happening.
I can recall meeting many European tourists on the North Coast many years ago, but the Europeans I see here now are long timers, living here. EU tourism seems to have dried up.

Remember when you told the community how you smuggled hash into Saudi Arabia when you were building bridges?
