Right now, they know what they're aiming for. They want Non payforplay tourists. And they're making a few moves, most of them haphazard at best. But they'll keep plugging away, chasing chicas, boarding windows, etc. But the minute a couple of large North Coast projects are ready to break ground, you'll see the P4P action wiped out faster than you could ever imagine. That's how they operate, they're not quite serious yet. So meanwhile, yeah, enjoy.

When you hear that D8 getting unloaded at Playa Sosua, grab your favorita and head for the hills!

It will always exist. It always has around the world. It will just move and change into something else. These girls are not magically going away.

I am thinking when/if this happens there will be more than a handful of expats that will not be able to afford to live in the area as the cost of living will skyrocket. They need to improve the airport.

It will happen. The land is way too valuable to let it sit idle just because JetBlue is doing well.

But agreed, and I've said as much in the past that sex will not be outlawed. In fact, you may see one or two more cabanas sneak into the area. But there won't be the weekend trek to Sosua for most of them.

The cruise ship port just added to it. When I owned a van I was approached to drive girls to the port area and bring them back at the end of their working day, for a price. I wasn't interested.

Expensive land? Does that include those 40 thousand U.S dollars condos available by the hundreds

So you think beach front property won't be developed because somebody else didn't do their homework?

Infrastructure needs to be improved. A hospital needs to be built. Corruption needs to be brought under control. Public transportation needs an overhaul. These are just a few things that need to be addressed before anything substantial happens. Otherwise, it will fail.

Ok , I'm confused, are you talking about downtown Sosua? because that is what I am referring to. If you are talking about the outer areas and east of Sosua?they might be developed. FYI a CAT D8 is a bladed dozer that has almost zero applications in Sosua proper.

Is the scenery as active as it was 12 years ago when you first arrived in your quest to gain experience?

Restaurants and bars open and close. Some have maintained. The faces change. People have been trying to save Sosua, the girls and casting aspersions at all involved since I have been here. I enjoy Sosua and ALL it has to offer and I suspect I will be doing that for 10 more years much to the chagrin of many.

That was not my question.

Might the Dominicans push back against that? You know how they view success by outsiders.

tell me about the things Dominicans have done to ''push back'' against outsiders. i live in POP, and there is a Chinese operation of sorts everywhere you look. i see no indicators of rebellion..

Don 't know what happened in town last night but in my area, the power went out from 20:30-00:30. Very inconvenient for a Saturday night. Another scheduled outage coming on Tuesday for another 6 or so hours. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Priorities are all screwed up with those who have the ability to affect real positive development.

We were at a party near el Choco when the power went out. It was out all over el Batey too.

This whole push is completely about the success of outsiders. The move toward large foreign investment is about brining in outsiders with money. They do not care where this money comes from....it all fits nicely in pockets.
