Cabarete
It’s is not guest friendly unless your staying with the same one all week...no changing names on guest list for room..

That's the same way any of over a dozen AI's around the DR that I've stayed in work. No problem if you check-in with a "novia", but if you check-in by yourself, you can't bring in anyone else afterwards.

They're not in business to give away free food and drinks and anyone seen walking around w/o a wrist band will get escorted of the premises by security quickly.

It's never a problem there, if one comports himself accordingly you just pay the resort fee. For me it's worth it for the secure parking. They realize it's Sosua and not Punta Cana

Had breakfast in Sosua today and had a look at the construction site of the new Marriott Ocean Club and talked to some people outside. No sign of being ready to open next month as previously stated. Little activity on the site too.No idea who I talked to, but when questioned, they said maybe Semana Santa things could be ready to open. April that is.

Playa Alicia, the views from the restaurants there are so nice, beats Cabarete. Planned to go to Arte Sano for breakfast, but made a wrong turn and entered Waterfront. But the view and breakfast were one of the best in a long time, had the Waterfront Special with smoked salmon and poached eggs. Mmm mm...

Sitting at The Tree House on Sosua Beach
as I type. The beach is packed. Easy 40+ chairs
on the beach packed with families both Dominican
and gringo. Restaurants are full. Whoever's been posting these doom and
gloom comments about how dead Sosua is probably hasnt spent much time here lately.

100% agreed however several
people on here have been barking
at the thought of families vacationing
in Sosua. Let me be the first to say... those
folks were wrong. In my 8 years of living
here, l've never seen this many families
enjoying ths town.

You're absolutely right. You could see it immediately after the latest "purge". So I think a good number of these "families" are locals that are already living here. Maybe some vacationers, but probably mostly local expats. They showed up almost the same day, so I believe a big part of it was curiosity at first. Now that the purge is holding somewhat, they are coming out knowing things have changed and enjoying the new look.

Retired expats are thrifty. They do not pay and spend as much as the drunk tourists trying to impress their new Dominican sub-wives.

True, Some retired expats rent 300 usd studio apartments. But some pay cash for 300K+ homes. And everything in-between. I think the point is that once people feel comfortable coming downtown, and more activities exist for them, the more they will come.

Build it, and they will come.

I was on the Beach today, Velero Restaurant Casita. Must have been there when all the families were in the restroom.

Actually, he should probably get his glasses checked to make sure he has the right prescription lenses. Because if he’s actually in Sosua as much as he claims to be and HASN’T noticed the increase in families and regular tourists, well then he obviously has a vision problem.

Didn't get a chance to stop by and say
hello to Manni. Hope he's doing better
after hurting his back.
Sounds like you must have been in the bathroom
for a very long time and missed the crowds. I hear constipation problems can be a real pain in the *ss. Perhaps you should try to get off the everyday monger
diet of beans and rice or maybe lift your head up off
the bar occasionally to see whats going on around you.
