There was never going to be a Ritz Carlton in Sosua. Not sure why you keep mentioning that.

How about those of you still in denial that any changes would be made at the announcements of the imminent moves of bar/discos from that small section of western Pedro Clisante to the eastern end?

In the last 10 or 15 years I have seen so many bars closed and re-opened again, moved and removed, new one came along and replaced them, there is no denial in any of that, just look what difference that has made to Sosua.... !? Honestly, what do you think, didn't you use to come and perform here before, and seen all this happen before.... ?

High Caribe opened and closed before, a few times, Rancho Tipico which is in that part of the town, the same, casino discos too. I think these moves just spread the john/chica business further around the town, while it could just be concentrated in one place in the center. And it does zip about town's reputation...!

Blue Collar Town in New Jersey
Almost forgot about Ad's Rancho Tipico.. closed down for what reason again ? " underage girls drinking"..
yeagh, ok. like the authorities really care about underage drinking..
Say what you want about AD ( and his grumpy arse deserves all the criticism that was dished out on him ) ... but, they Closed him for NO REASON..
He was running a RESTAURANT and BAR, even had BREAKFAST SPECIALS to attract Expats for a nice Cheap Breakfast & Coffee.... Not exactly a " whore bar" if you asked me ... But YEAGH, at night , girls did go there ..they are all over town, why would they not ?
..But that is all it was , a Restaurant , with a Bar, and good sound system
... small dance floor .. but NOT a "Disco"
point is THEY can close you for ANY reason, at ANY time ..

" oops, you let a 16 year old Drink beer ?, you are CLOSED" ...permanently

Yes because in such they are actually protecting the foreign tourist customer. Who do you think is buying that 16 year old that beer, and probably will be departing in their company? The "of age" age here in RD is 18, not 21. Anything younger than that should not be in any establishment.

Yes, I have been following this for 16 years or so. I have seen things go down hill on the north coast during that same period of time regarding tourism. I have seen more expats buying places and mid priced housing being increased slowly over time.

I have seen there was a conscious effort to create a red light district and to put the hookers at least out of physical sight as best they can. The disgust people felt with what was happening was obvious to me the new group of whore mongers were oblivious to this. This seems to be actually under way at this very time.

True that the Internet image of Sosua is not going away, but the government is doing what they are doing anyway. There is certainly no guarantee that any of these businesses that relocate will survive. Reactionary processes where things are often done that are too little or too late to help. I have no predictions on any success for Sosua for mongers or tourists.

You might be surprized to learn that Rancho Tipico was closed due to it being a so called fire hazard.

what changes ?? The hookers are still all over Sosua proper, everyday, everywhere, all the time. Throwing a few hard working girls in jail will not change Sosua. They have been doing this same thing for years to satisfy someone.

Someone mentioned, several times, even attached photos of a pending Marriott and a Ritz. LMAO, what a chuckle

Nobody ever said there was going to be a Ritz Carlton in Sosua. Not once. Marriott is partnered with the revamp of the old Ganesvoort down the street from Bologna. Have a look at the work being done.

I thought that throwing the working girls in jail would destroy Sosua? Now it doesn't matter?

Nothing is changing? Except for the bars and discos being relocated, you mean?

And I dont disagree with that at all , but that is a very specific Scenario
But AD got reduced to asking 35 year olds for ID at the Door, like a SCHMUCK,,, and he STILL got closed down ...

by the way, in EUROPE,, 15 year olds drink beer ... your not " protecting or saving" anyone , if its a Gringa or young Euro with his/ her Parents .
I assume you are painting a Scenario of Underage girl + a Pedo buying her a drink ....

You might be surprized to learn that Rancho Tipico was closed due to it being a so called fire hazard.
That is even MORE Hysterical then..
Since it was an OPEN AIR BAR , Restaurant ..

Meanwhile,, across town , Classicos ... NO EXIT .... A complete Death Trap upstairs ..
Ask any Fireman who has been in there . an absolute death trap .

Do you realize it was a thatched roof with no walls?
he was probably never even there ..is my guess

Not once, but it was obvious just driving by.
He was closed because the powers that be wanted him closed.
Just like the "non" changes going on today that whore mongers said would never happen.
And are.

So we agree on that 100% .. If they want you closed, they will FIND a reason to close you. period ..
had nothing to do with fire code, underage drinking, or rescuing girls from Pedos..

At least they seem to have given up with the 'underage drinking' trick now.

Send in a 15 year old done up to look like 21years immediately followed by a police raid.
Not seen it used for a while.

If they want you closed, you're closed.Easy as that.No lawyers,no bribes.

Best to get out before you get the legal problems on top.

The alcohol people did that at my bar in FL, and one of my bartenders served her without asking for an ID.

She went to jail and had to pay a monster fine.

Allow me to bring you up to speed, reported from boots on the ground. Bars have been closing and opening for 15 years in Sosua proper, chicas have been arrested and released for 15 plus years. Two nights ago there were so many chicas in town, from Sosua beach past Bologna restaurant the P.D would have needed a fleet of tour buses to transport them to jail. Jon's with chicas everywhere. Is there a hotel with a Marriott sign on it anywhere in Sosua proper, that would be a big fat NO

I appreciate the update. I expect some changes in the next couple of months.

The Hotel is not finished yet, and you were so close. Just down the street from Bologna as you head toward the ocean. I expect the sign will go up after it is done. The name will be Ocean Club.
