I'm going to take the leap.

Another reason to stay home instead of wasting time, fuel, and energy.

Thanks for the link, JD

My mother, who is still alive, made butter, ice cream, yogurt when we were growing up, along with Dilly beans, sauerkraut....etc.

For all you salt adverse folks, try potassium salt it is sodium free. I haven't used table salt in years, potassium salt only. Your body will thank you for it.

In Florida, I always bought the Publix store brand. I liked it more than Breakstone's and it came in both large and small curd. Cheaper, too.
I'm originally from Massachusetts, and grew up on Hood. I had to learn to like Breakstone when I moved to NY.

Why not just make it yourself .
Cottage Cheese, is as easy as it gets .

This woman explains it really well .. very thorough.

Americans are the most spoiled people .. Our Grandparents would be ashamed of us . they made their own , Canning fruits and Veg, ,made cheeses, smoked Meats . My great grandmother as I recall even made her own Soap.
Why do people gripe so much about Stores , when you can do it yourself and get a much better product with none of the Garbage added .

just sayin
Actually, I have. My most recent attempt, however, tasted way too much of vinegar. I must have used too much, because even after rinsing it, there was still a very decided vinegar tang. Back to the drawing board.......

Exactly why I'm not even going to try. Not all brands of cottage taste that good to me - some are much better than others. Odds of me making one that I would like are slim.

Are you using vinegar or lemon juice? My mom used lemon juice when she made it.

Just a side note for the privileged NC dwellers and hobo’s…
When you travel from RSJ to GH, or vice a versa, you pass by Juan Bueno on the Main Street.
He sells wonderful yoghurt and real butter… I love it . (Milk comes from my family’s cattle).
