You can find these things in most bodegas in the States.

Also, if you call them tostones here they will think you are Puerto Rican - we say "fritos verdes" or just fritos.!

We, Dominicans also call them "tostones". We also say fritos verdes, fritos maduros, but tostones are always made with green plantains.

I have the metal one but still find using the bottom of a drinking glass preferable.;)

haha...This is kind of a funny thread. A thousand ways to mash tostones...

Seriously though I just got hungry for some hot tostones right off the fryer (con cachu of course) and fried salami or queso. Can someone send me a Presidente (The regular one) vestida de novia to go with it....Love it.

Also, one good thing about the States is that in some Colombian restaurants they make a sauce "mojo" that is absolutely out of this world. The main ingerdiants are beer, mayonaise, garlic and jalape?o (for the hot one). Wow, my mouth is watering waiting to get back to Orlando!
