Nah, stupidity is more like it. Desperation can wait for a day with better weather, stupidity... well...

By the way, look what some Dominicans found on a yola off the coast of Saona Island...


One of the guys says "What an animal!" Yep, seeing that in person would be enough to kill some people simply from that. lol And that's a small creature compared to humback whales. They should show that video prior to a yola departing for Puerto Rico.

Not enough jobs for the Dominicans and from what I see of construction, pulgas, fruit sales and Spandex Queens the Haitians are keeping wages from sky rocketing and taking a fair share of some jobs.
Haitians are increasingly the yola riders. In fact, for many years most yola riders in many yolas caught attempting to enter PR were from that nationality. The numbers of yolas might revert the decreasing tendency for years (before Covid) as the Haitians are replacing Dominicans in that too. lol
