I don't follow fashion design but he was one of the DR's most important persons. He died in 2014, I actually thought he was still around. RIP.

The gentleman is a Dominican icon. Strike that, he is a world icon.

They should find a way to buy his Kent, Connecticut home and turn it into a house-museum showing where he lived and recounting his life and achievements in his profession, That home might still be inhabited by his widow, but it still has the garden created by Oscar which should be kept like many other gardens with public access throughout Connecticut. It also has nice views since it’s on a hill. That’s also where he died.

That would be the best honor.

The headline is deceiving...the article is about Ivanka Trump wearing a dress (among other outfits) from his brand, and some backlash for who knows why...seems to be nothing about him being honored.

"considered to be the greatest designer in the history of humanity.."

That's a tall order but hey,
I'm having a mighty fine day (January 20th 2025) today regardless of what them folks are up to.
Me too and I must say Ivanka always looks stunning. And Melania look fantastic in her dress too. Like a sexy female Zoro

I hope the Cancel Culture ends today.
People should not be under threat of punishment because someone is 'triggered'.
We all get triggered by something.
Oscar de la Renta designs have timeless class and it takes an elegant lady to pull it off

I realize why you said "today", and am not looking to engage in a US political back and forth. I just want to say both sides are guilty and that certainly is not going to change under the new administration.

Censorship is an evil that feeds on itself. (Hitler used it)
No matter what country it becomes self-defeating of liberty.
It is sad to me to see a countries like England, France and Germany that now seem to be going down this rabbit-hole.
I hope the US just sent a message to the world.
If Elon Musk and Joe Rogan accomplished nothing else in their life (oh but they have) then that alone would be enough to make them heroes.

And trying to cancel someone's dress designs, like De La Renta's ( which are not-political items) is silly.
I do not recall anyone calling for canceling designers for Michelle or Jill.
It takes a special kind of pettiness to go after dress designers

Maybe someone ask to cancel Brother Vellies for his AOC "Tax The Rich" dress but I don't recall it coming up
