UN extends support to Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti

The UN Security Council approved to keep its support to the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support Missionin Haiti, but did not accept upgrading the mission to one of a UN peacekeeping force. This would have opened doors for more funding from the United Nations and had been requested by Haitian Presidential Transition Council President Edgar LeBlanc during his speech at the UN General Assembly Debate and by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken after his 5 September 2024 visit to Haiti.

The UN Security Council unanimously adopted Resolution 2751 (2024) on Haiti during the session held on 30 September 2024. The resolution extends the present mandate of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSS), as authorized in resolution 2699 (2023) to 2 October 2025.
