President Luis Abinader announced that it is a priority of his government to build the skylift mass transit solution for Santo Domingo West. The system will connect residents from kilometer 9 of the Duarte Highway to the neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, La Altagracia, El Café, Carretera Sánchez, and the Port of Haina, with an estimated completion date of early 2026.

The President made the announcement during a community meeting at the La Hora de Dios school in Buenos Aires, Herrera, where he addressed residents’ concerns about security, public services, infrastructure, and various other issues.

In addition to the cable car project, Abinader outlined several other initiatives for Santo Domingo West, including a new judicial complex, a traffic solution for Plaza de la Bandera, and continued work on the Guajimía canal.
