long time no update here on the Topic,
and no real need, as the exchange Rate moves constant since a good 3 weeks now.

the last days including today I got still the same 37.95
at Banca barrican
El Cortecito/Bavaro

Yesterday I was still getting 38.05. It has been the same for two weeks now.

Canadians - better to bring in US dollars

Here in Tamboril, Santiago 38.00 pesos per US dollar on Sept 12/11.

For some reason the Canadian dollar is worth less here even though the US dollar is only worth 99 cents CAN. I always exchange my CAN dollars for US before I come to the country. Then exchange into Pesos.

I used my Canadian credit cards at Pricesmart and La Sirena last week and the exchange was 37.5 pesos per CAN dollar, not a bad rate for the convenience.

For Canadians the best Bank is Royal. They have RoyalBankusa accounts, called "centura" account. This is a USA bank based on USA soil. It can be opened in Canada and linked to your Canadian accounts. You can transfer funds between your accounts online. It comes with a "debit Visa card" that can be used here.

As stated earlier, the Cdn dollar never gets its fair rate against the US dollar.

Even when worth more than the US dollar, the cambio will give you less.
Just use credit/debit cards or exchange your money before arriving in RD.

Canadandy's Royal Bank (RBC) is worth considering b/c it seems to allow both US and Cdn dollar accounts with interchangeability online.

Playero, believe it or not, also has a pretty good exchange rate. Just pay with dollars and get pesos returned.
Was 38.2 yesterday.

In spite of all the negative things i sometimes feel about Playero they have ALWAYS given a excellent rate on the exchange which is good for tourists and locals alike.
